How did you learn about this group? Examples: web search, saw a t-shirt or bumper sticker, etc.

I did a web search for atheist groups in the area...and there you all are!

How do you identify yourself? Atheist, agnostic, humanist, bright, etc.

I've been an Atheist since I was old enough to realize what was going on. I was always a Buck Rogers - Flash Gordon fan, with an overriding interest in the future and science, space travel and science fiction. When I was a teenager, the preacher said that the world was coming to an end when all the people were told the message of the gospel and about Jesus' glorious return!. I thought: WHAT? What about getting out to mars, and the moon? What about travel to the stars? And then, I started reading...Thomas Paine's "The Age of Reason, and "Man and His Gods" by Homer Smith, and more. I raised my family in the Unitarian least they are tolerant of unbelievers.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

Embrace a group of like-minded's so lonely out there. It would be a time for my wife and I to relax with friendly people of the same "persuasion", without having to watch everything we say about our beliefs.

I consider myself an engineer/artist by avocation, and basically a futurist by philosophy. My interests lie in science, technology, architecture, animation, graphic design, science fiction, etc. (big etc.). Retired, but living at the future's edge!

What Ken B. is saying about this Meetup Group

This was my first chance to meet some of the members (the "neighborhood atheists", and I'm looking forward to participating more in the future. Do you have a contact list?
