This meeting will be a joint meeting between the Project Management Institute - Central Illinois Chapter (PMI-CIC) and the Illinois Regional Agile Users Group (IRAUG)! The PMI-CIC February meeting was rescheduled for 2/23 due to the snow storm and they have invited us to join them for their Agile Presentation by Tom Mellor!

Speaker: Tom Mellor

This Agile topic will explore:

  • the painful parts of agile?s impact on project managers
  • the emergence of self-directed teams
  • the obsolescence of traditional project management?s focus on planning and controlling in favor of execution, presenting the PM and the organization with a real value question to the role, and turning the project org chart upside down placing the manager

Tom Mellor is an:

  • Internal Certified Scrum Trainer and agile coach for State Farm
  • Certified Scrum Trainer, Certified Scrum Practitioner, Certified Scrum Product Owner, and Certified ScrumMaster
  • 30 years experience in business and IT
  • Introduced Scrum and agile principles into SF in 2004
  • Speaker and presenter at industry conferences
  • President and Chair of the Board ? ScrumAlliance
  • Member of the Agile Alliance
  • Member of the Agile Project Leadership Network

This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with the local PMI chapter this month! Their original meeting date was on 2/9, however the meeting was cancelled and rescheduled due to the snowstorm. Their backup meeting date fell on 2/23 and given the agile topic for the meeting, they have invited us to join them for Tom's presentation! Our initially planned February agenda (interactive Scrum exercise) will be moved to our March meeting.

Please come and join us! It should be an excellent presentation!
