What we're about

We are a group of runners in our 20's and 30's, with members ranging from beginner runners to those who have been running for years. Nothing like knowing others are waiting for you to make sure you go out and run! We are not competitive, regardless of pace (we have some very fast runners in the group, and very slow runners, and even if you can't run the whole thing, and need a walk break, it's ok). We always welcome new faces!

Our weekday runs are always by time, not distance, so that we can all begin and end together. Our long runs are on Saturday mornings, but there's always an option on running for time as well.

There are plenty of groups out there for competitive runners but not much for the runners who want a laid back environment to meet new friends, keep them motivated to run, and have company when training for a race (or run for other reasons -- personal goals? Weight Loss? Just because?).

If you want to have fun when you're running, and make some great new friends, this is the group for you!

The focus will be getting people who are committed to train together and motivate each other, no matter how slow or far you go at first. No need to be intimidated!

We also participate in many local races as a group (check out our calendar) -- it's always a blast! Running is a lot more fun in a group. We have trained together for the Shamrock Half Marathon, National Half, Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, VA Beach Rock n Roll Half Marathon, Army Ten Miler, Chicago Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon.

We will also train together for this year's races!

Of course, you don't have to be running a race to join our training runs -- we just need the company to keep us motivated to start and finish each time!

The vast majority of the runs are in the Arlington area. Sometimes we grab a snack or coffee on those weekend morning runs and plan a happy hour (and occasional social events like BBQ) about once a month.

Monday Courthouse Run - 40 Min

We usually head out to Arlington Rooftop for a drink after the run. So if you're planning to stay after for drinks, bring your ID/etc. Notes: If you're not familiar with the area, please review the routes. If its cold, take cover inside the foyer area of 2100 Claredon Blvd. Routes: We'll alternate between the following routes. Both routes are hilly. We'll run 20 minutes out and then turn around and run 20 minutes back to Courthouse. Everyone runs at his/her own pace, so the distance will depend on your speed. 1) First and Third Monday Courthouse to Georgetown Waterfront (one giant hill) (http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/15736154) Veitch St. to the Custis Trail; downhill to Key Bridge; over to the Georgetown Waterfront. 2) Second and Fourth Monday Courthouse to Custis Trail West (rolling hills) (http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/va/arlington/851124274883721531) Veitch St. to the Custis Trail; West toward Glebe Rd. Pace: All paces are welcome! We'll be doing an out and back route, so everyone will just turn around at the halfway time marker. That way we should all start and end at the same time. Free Parking at Courthouse Plaza: The underground garage (http://tiny.cc/OmKZx) is on Clarendon Blvd btwn Wayne and Veitch Sts. (near Ray's the Steaks, Strayer/CVS and the AMC Theater). If the first 2 levels on the left are full, you can park on the lower levels to the right. Street and Surface Parking lots should be free in the area as well. Metro: Orange line to Courthouse Station.

Wednesday Crystal City Run: 50 min

NEW TIME: The time for this meetup has been moved back to 7:00PM for Spring and Summer. NEW LOCATION: Meet at the entrance of the trail, right across from 1750 Crystal Dr / Morton's Steakhouse. Link to location on map: http://i.imgur.com/3yN0lwN.jpg On Wednesday, let's meet at 6:50pm and do a 50 min run leaving at 7:00pm. You're welcome to do more if you'd like. Meeting Point: Meet at the entrance of the trail, right across from 1750 Crystal Dr / Morton's Steakhouse. Let's run on the Mt. Vernon Trail. Just before the run we decide whether we'll go NORTH (DC) or SOUTH (Old Town) on the trail. Once we're done, we meet back up at the Crystal City Water Park. All paces are welcome! We run by time, not speed so bring a watch to monitor your time and turn around at the halfway time point. If you need to run/walk, that's ok! We average anywhere between 7-13 minute/per mile pace. First Time? Start out slow to find someone around your pace. The different paces tend to automatically gather, so you won't be alone! Metro: Crystal City on Blue/Yellow lines, 2 blocks from metro exit. Post-Run: A lot of times we have a little social outing after the run. You can bring a change of clothes if you'd like (though most people just go as is). We'll finish up the run, meet back at the Water Park, pick up our wallets and walk to wherever we decided to go for drinks/dinner. If you have a suggestion for a place to check out, let us know!

Saturday Run - 50 min (25 out and 25 back)

This Saturday lets run to the National Mall! We will start at Roosevelt Island at the crosswalk in the center of parking lot. LOCATION: Roosevelt Island Parking Lot. But, you can run any amount of time or mileage. And if you need to walk, it's not a problem either, everyone needs to start somewhere! PARKING: Use this map (http://bit.ly/i2dWD0) to find parking in Rosslyn. There are parking lots at Roosevelt Island and above the Continental Lounge. There are also meters and pay garages. DIRECTIONS: For those of you driving to Roosevelt Island, please note that the parking lot is only accessible from the NORTHBOUND lane of GW parkway. You will see it right after the Roosevelt Bridge. METRO: Orange or blue to Rosslyn. From N. Moore St, turn left; right onto 19th St; cross Lynn St. and turn left; take the trail on the right just before the Key Bridge.
