We have some wonderful talks lined up for the next Meetup, and we hope you can all make it! Hannah will be talking about having confidence in your personality. And Holly is going to be talking about the wage gap. As always, we'll have the wild card spot, so if you're feeling inspired to talk about something that interests you then let us know on the night. It will also be a chance to discuss other opportunities that everyone might be interested in. We have our Slack group set up for chatting in between meet ups. If you haven't joined and would like an invitation get in touch with Elspeth ([masked]) and she'll add you.

  • Film Outing: Hidden Figures

    Location visible to members

The screening is at 8.20pm. We'll be meeting from around 7.30pm for a catch-up, at the Costa Coffee next to the Odeon. We're looking in to see if we can get a group discount of some kind on cinema tickets. Hidden Figures is finally coming to the big screen, so we thought it would be a great excuse for an evening out, a chance to socialise and enjoy what should be a wonderful film. For those of you who haven't heard about it, the film is based on the true story of the African-American women who played a fundamental part in the NASA space programme. You can find more information about it on IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4846340/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1), or watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK8xHq6dfAo

We're going for an office party style for our next meetup. As mentioned before Holly has agreed to talk about finding the confidence to be your own woman and Pip and Lucia are going to talk about Full Stack Development. The Innovation Centre (near the bus station) have agreed to let us use one of their rooms. We'll bring some party food, so if you want to bring anything along as well, or have any specific requests, let us know. So come, celebrate the festive spirit, and socialise with us. It's going to be a great evening.

We're trying a new format for our next meetup, so here goes. We're meeting for a social at the Ring O Bells (just behind the train station) where we can get drinks and nibbles, but this time we are going to have a couple of short talks from members of the network. Talks can be on any subject but there are 2 themes per night; inspirational and informative (and we will have one talk on each theme). Rosie has volunteered to do the first one so will talk about her experience launching a startup; specifically about the positive side of failing! And then Elspeth will give some top tips about managing multiple social media accounts from her experiences working with Bath Film Festival and tech startup Memberoo. There will also be a slot for a wildcard talk - on the night if anyone feels inspired, has something to announce or say and wants to stand up and speak then there will be an opportunity to do that!
