Also known as The Great Detroitnet.org Anti-Politically Correct Happy Merry ChrismaKwanziKah Event!
It’s the end of the year, folks. One of the things that we’re most proud of in this past year is what started with our December 2011 event and continued with our December 2012 event to support Michigan military troops and their families, and so we’ve decided that we’re doing it again this year. We’re not quite sure what all will exactly be going on…so keep on eye out for details as we get closer to the date.
And this time…it’s personal.
Well, this time around, we’re not going to have our usual whipping post uhhh, I mean “organizer” by our sides as we do this. For those who have been to events in past years, you know that Russ Dotson has been crucial in getting the events of the last two years up and running.
He’s not going to be here this time.
Why? Because he’s been deployed out, that’s why. Yep, he’ll be on active duty overseas, and he’ll be stationed with a whole bunch of Marines, and so yep, this time there’s a personal flavor to it.
Oh, we’ll still have a lot of the folks involved that have come to the events in previous years, but Russ unfortunately won’t be around to witness this one firsthand.
We realize that we always say this, but we particularly mean it this time – we hope you can join us.
It’s not a Pink Slip Party, it’s mostly a Casual Networking Event, but…honestly, most of all, we just want to have a nice little gathering with you folks to wrap up the year. Thank you for being part of our group, thank you for believing in us, thank you for following us all over the mitten as we’ve had events all over Michigan this year, and, well, let’s kick back, have a drink or two and relax. You’re still allowed to network, you’re still allowed to be looking to hire people, you’re still allowed to be looking for a job…none of that’s “banned” or anything. We just really want to end the year with a mellow gathering of everyone who’s either been an integral part of the group this year or just joining and wants to get a feel for who we are.
In addition to the great feedback about last two events like this, we also had a lot of requests to get back to Rochester Mills in Rochester Hills…and so, tah-dah…we are.
So, you know the drill: No agenda. No speakers. No 30-second commercials. No cover charge. No free lunch. Never. Just networking with IT professionals. Plain and simple.
Detroitnet.org was started by IT professionals for IT professionals. We didn’t like any other group out there, so we started our own! At our events, you might meet some recruiters, some out of work developers, some sales guys, some network admins, some web guys and some senior level management…
So come on out, bring some business cards (or don’t, it’s OK), meet some like-minded people in the Metro Detroit area, and who knows, you could meet a life-long friend, a new business partner, or no one at all…it’s what you make of it that makes Detroitnet.org great.
As always, we are networking Detroit, one beer at a time.
See you at 5:01 at Rochester Mills in Rochester Hills!
If you’re a newcomer to the group, or unfamiliar with what we did in 2011, you can read…
