  • Starting the Fun Hike Earlier!

    Location visible to members

It’s warming up so we’re meeting an hour earlier. Join the group Griffith Park Hiking Southeast Corner for another fun hike. We'll hike to Cedar Grove and back. Just over 3 miles. About an hour and a half hike. 650 feet elevation gain. This is not a death march. But the first half is kind of straight up the mountain. There are two drinking fountains near the top. But bring water if you think you’ll need it on the way. Meet at the END of Griffith Park Boulevard. Two blocks west of the 5 Freeway. One block north of Los Feliz Boulevard. Plenty of free on street parking. We'll have 180 degree views from the Angeles Forest to Downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean. Dogs welcome.

  • Comic-Con International: San Diego

    San Diego Convention Center

Comic-Con International is proud to welcome attendees, professionals, exhibitors, retailers, volunteers, and members of the press each year to the beautiful San Diego Convention Center. Attending Comic-Con is an exhilarating and unforgettable experience, but it also requires some forethought and planning. To find helpful information purchasing Comic-Con badges, registering as a professional, volunteer, retailer, or member of the press, and popular onsite activities like Preview Night, the blood drive, and Comic-Con exclusives go to https://www.comic-con.org/cci/purchase-badges. You will also find valuable information regarding hotels, disabled services, and child care. If it isn't there right now, don't worry ... it will be as we get closer to the event! Although we strive to make attending our show as easy as possible, obtaining a Comic-Con badge can require the persistence of Superman, the patience of a Watcher, the ingenuity of Tony Stark, and the readiness of Batman. We strongly recommend that you read each section related to attending Comic-Con so that you don't miss any important deadlines for registration. As the event nears, we will also post specific details on how to navigate Comic-Con and where to find your favorite activities, including program schedules, maps, and an online version of our Quick Guide publication. We truly appreciate your interest in Comic-Con, and we look forward to seeing you in July!

Don't drive up at 6:30 and expect us to wait! • It should be fairly light out through the entire walk, so you won't need a flashlight. If you've never gone on an organized urban hike, you gotta check it out! (We try to do it weekly). Don't be afraid of the stairs - we wait for everyone and you can always bail out if you need to. Join us afterward for dinner at Souplantation on San Vicente & Montana! Dog friendly (if your dog is friendly and can climb/descend stairs!). ABOUT THE WALK: Join us for a great break in your week — an evening walk through the beautiful neighborhoods of Santa Monica and Rustic Canyons. This 4.4 mile loop traverses 15 stairways, with 1,129 up-steps (that's 61 flights for you Fitbitters) and 332 down-steps, and climbs a total of 612 feet. It's a great introduction for stairwalking newcomers, but it's also a challenging hour and a half workout regardless of your experience level! We move quickly but will happily wait at the tops of stairways to collect the group. Dave and Kristy Moorman lead the loop in the early evening. We did this 50 Thursdays last year, and try to do it every week. If you are concerned about keeping up, it's easy to bail out at any point, but we want you to succeed! Meet up at the foot of West Channel at PCH (Santa Monica) at the top of the pedestrian underpass entrance (by the Shore Bar / Restaurant Giorgio Baldi). The Hungry Cat is no longer in business but the address is right where we start. We will leave right about at 6:30PM with or without you! If you're a little late, leave a comment on this Meetup page or on our Facebook page, and we can wait a few or try to meet along the route. Or download the map (see below) and meet up with us! PARKING - ARRIVE EARLY TO FIND PARKING!! Free street parking can be found up West Channel, Entrada, Sycamore, or Mesa - a short walk from the start. Some meters on Entrada are 2 hour til 8PM (Meters at the lower end of W. Channel are 1 hr. max til 8PM, so forget about those!). Beach parking lot fees are enforced until sundown — enter the beach lot from southbound PCH and walk through the pedestrian tunnel under PCH - it comes out right at the walk start. RESTROOMS - there are public restrooms along the beach parking lot across PCH from the start. You can walk under PCH through the tunnel in less than a minute. • Chilling at Copa Vida! Pasadena Part 🥈

    Copa Vida

Hi all, we had a good crowd last time and I'm fixin' to do another one! Basically, I've been passing this place a lot for a while and I wanted to do more chill meets for all Pasadena-peeps in the area who might be in the mood for some coffee! Located in Downtown Pasadena off Raymond, this spot is popular and we'll be stopping by to see what the hype is about and doing more of a relaxed meet 'n greet. Afterwards we can check out Lucky Baldwins right up the street or some of the other spots to grab some food! My plans to come around 640ish and try to snag a table or two, and then we chill and have dinner for a couple hours. Look for an asian guy wearing a black chevy hat and a nametag (so it should be kinda easy to spot me!) Near the tables to the right of the counter near the emergency exit sign. Parking is a little tight in Pasadena, but I believe the street parking can be free after like 6pm and if thats too risky or you're lazy like me, there is paid structures nearby (like the one across the street above Amara, another popular spot!) Hope to see y'all there!

  • Drinks, Fire Pits, & Good Conversation at L.A. Arts District

Resident has outdoor seating, fire pits, and a food truck right by the entrance. It's a very chill venue. We will meet in the outdoor patio. First time attending a meetup or apprehensive about going alone? Please know that with most meetups the majority of attendees come by themselves. If you come on your own, before you know it you will be chatting up a new friend :) ...so don’t be shy! Parking - There is a parking lot right by Resident at 436 S. Hewitt St. Also, there is some street parking available or you can use parking apps such as parkme or parkopedia. FYI, there will NOT be a meetup sign. Once I arrive I will post info on how to find exactly where I am and what I am wearing so that you can find me.

  • {Free} Magic & Mystery @ Union Station. A magical summer night soiree!!!

This is a new and neat thing. It goes from 6 to 9pm. My suggestion is get there early . Leave from there and go the DTLA Night Market for dinner and vendors till midnight. How to meetup for this? The event is occurring in the South Courtyard (easy to find). When you arrive . . . check the comments and see if any of the main hosts posted a location of where they are. If not . . . this means you got there before them. Find a nice spot and post your location, time and how to recognize you. And you will become the first hub. When other hosts get there they will come to you or start more hubs if your space filled. In this way many small meets form instead of one giant one that won't work due to the logistics of this space and area and event. If you want to be one of the listed added hosts . . . send a note or post in the comments. Union Station will roll into summer with a showcase of L.A.’s vibrant community of world-class magicians. For one evening only, guest can enjoy Magic & Mystery at Union Station, featuring a variety of magic styles, from “close magic” card tricks to the work of awe-inspiring mentalists and illusionists. The free performances on the station’s majestic South Patio will star an eclectic ensemble of top-notch magicians and variety performers. Lindsay Benner, 2019 Magic Castle Award nominee, is slated to MC the event and will delight audiences with her unique mix of classic vaudeville tricks with a theatrically seductive spin. Magician Riccardo Berdini, who has performed for audiences around the world and appeared on the 4th season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us on the CW Network, will captivate the crowd with a sensory performance that blends mentalism and mind reading with his signature Italian sense of humor for an experience like no other. Award-winning illusionist Joseph Tran will take center stage with his highly interactive, mind blowing sets that deliver the perfect balance of clean-wit and spontaneous fun. The MC Lindsay Benner https://youtu.be/ku1v-XzynOw Riccardo Berdini https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ14x3BvAtg Joseph Tran (the headliner) https://youtu.be/7S2jijqC3sc Throughout the evening, magicians and variety performers will be mingling among guests with mind-bending magic, slight-of-hand sorcery and gravity defying feats. Go Metro to all events by taking the Red, Purple, Gold or Silver Line directly to Union Station L.A.

This is a companion event to the Union Station Magic. https://www.meetup.com/IWantToDoThat/events/263074708/ The idea is go there first. Then make to this for the rest of the eve. Or go to this on it's own. That work's too. They are set up independent of eachother (not a real word) . And since they will be moving we will need to use the comments section to pin down meet spots over the course of the eve. 200 is the Number of Pop Up Booths It may take a hot minute to get filled up but who cares? This is a great place to come spend a day and support these local designers, makers, dreamers and "I'm quitting my day job-ers" 750 Parking Spaces Don't sweat the parking because FREE PARKING.
