My friends and I organize free urban hikes throughout LA (i.e. Rustic Canyon stairwalk every Thursday / The Legendary Calabasas Stairs a few weeks ago). We walk everywhere, and we're tired of seeing litter on our streets. So we created a nonprofit (UnlitterLA.org) and we're planning a massive volunteer street cleanup event for later in the year that will clean hundreds of miles of LA area streets in a single day!
But now, on Saturday April 27th, we will run a PILOT of our concept, simultaneously cleaning six 4-mile routes starting at Woodley Park in the Sepulveda Dam Rec Area in teams of about 10. We're doing it in association with the L.A. Dept. of Sanitation's Earth Day event (til 2PM) that features exhibits, giveaways, free food, and family fun.
We all want to enjoy a clean and safe city - if a bunch of us pitch in for a few hours we can really make a difference. Round up some friends and come help us start something great!
