Moved to 2022 Due To The Rona
THE HOLI FESTIVAL commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the demoness named Holika. This was enabled through unwavering devotion to the Hindu god of preservation, Lord Vishnu.
HOLI got its name as the "Festival of Colors" from Lord Krishna, a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, who liked to play pranks on the village girls by drenching them in water and colors.
It is traditionally celebrated the day after the full moon in March. The technical date of this is Thurs March 1. This event is April 6th is kinda close to the date.
Oh yes, . . you were looking for the Meetup not to get some lern'n. OK. Here is better info for the cerebral minded. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi
LOW ENTRY FEE (around $7); Kids under 12 free; and the powder color is $3 ea or 5 for $12and powders are completely safe and washable. (They do not allow any outside color products, . . . good reason- they would not know what it is made from.)
THIS IS A WAY to get a touch of a far-off land and culture. What fun.
RSVP yes does not get you entry. YOU CAN GET TICKETS ONLINE OR AT THE DOOR, but RSVP here and we can meetup and hang as a group of new friends. After all, . . . YOU WANTED TO DO THIS....BUT NOT ALONE!!
KC is looking for added Event Hosts on this. If you want to step up and help out message me about it. Since there is a time spread, the more people the better.
BE SURE TO WEAR OLD OR USED CLOTHES (white is great for the powder colors and photos); you will be covered in colors!!
