The REAL "Bridge to Nowehere" hike!!!! Goat Canyon Trestle Bridge AMAZING PLACE!

Event moved to new date.
All persons refunded.

Many of us have heard of "The Bride to Nowhere" hike in LA. Some have even gone on it. After all . . . It's not too hard of a hike and it's not too far away.

Goat Cyn Trestle

And if you like reading
The second one he takes the approach from the north side and goes on tracks. That's MUCH longer. We are taking the route in from The east. Less miles, and also more rustic.

Plain and simple this place is AMAZING. But it's far. As in too far to drive there and start the hike. So we will camp close by.

This is easy camping, a hard hike and for those that wish it, . . . culture vulture tour on Sunday.

The itinerary:

Fri (eve):

Sat: Goat Canyon Trestle Bridge Hike from Mortero Palms
5.5 to 6.4 round trip
ELEVATION GAIN 2,200 to 2,513 feet

This is in contrast to the route in from the north at 13.9 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN 4,202 feet that takes the tracks.

Even at the 6 miles round trip we will do: this is a desert hike. And THIS is why we are doing it in Jan the coolest time of year.

On Saturday after the hike we will drive to Fonts Point for Sunset then through Galleta Meadows as the sky darkens and back to our campsite or a soak in the mineral pools till 9PM

Font's Point

Galleta Meadows in Anza-Borrego

This one vid shows The Slot and a lot of Font's Point.
The whole flat lakebed parts we are not going to

I suggest you just google "Font's Point Sunrise" in google images.

Sunday - There are options:
One option is to drive home taking the cultural wasteland tour route:

Obsidian Buttes
Mud Volcanoes
Salvation Mtn
East Jesus
Bombay Beach
The International Banana Museum
The Dinos at Cabozan.
and maybe "The Pumpkin Patch"

The other Sunday option is:
"The Slot"
Calcite Mine Slot Canyon
Arroyo Tapiado Mud Caves

Making options as Goat Cyn is a tough one. You might be blown for a second hike after. And two hikes on Sun will be too much.

We will pack in a LOT!!!

We will be staying place called Agua Caliente. Our campsite will have Mineral Pools. One is open one is enclosed. They are adults only in the eve from 6 to 9 PM

Well . . . you do not need to be a hardcore hiker. But you do need to be average fit.

A YES!!!! Car is steps from the site. Site is flat and without rocks. Plenty people there to help and be company. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets and running water and even showers!! And oh yes . . . a Mineral Pool too!!!
