Featuring the work of more than 60 influential artists and including vibrant paintings, powerful sculptures, street photography, murals, and more, this landmark exhibition is a rare opportunity to see era-defining artworks that changed the face of art in America. Our tour will focus on the many female artists featured in this phenomenal exhibit, and we will mix and mingle over brunch at the beautiful and delicious Otium restaurant before the tour. All tickets include the tour and entrance to the Soul of A Nation exhibit, and full experience tickets include 1 brunch item + coffee or tea (excluding the gnocchi & short rib, inclusive of tax + tip). Full experience: $75 early bird through 8/3 at midnight; $80 thereafter Tour/exhibit only: $40 early bird through 8/3 at midnight; $45 thereafter Get tickets & more info here: https://www.womenofculture.org/losangeles/broad *** Full Event Schedule 11:30am | Brunch at Otium 222 South Hope Street 1:30pm | Women of Soul of A Nation tour at the Broad 221 S. Williams. Los Angeles-based artists appear throughout Soul of a Nation, and more deeply in three specific galleries, foregrounding the significant role of Los Angeles in the art and history of the civil rights movement and the subsequent activist era, and the critical influence and sustained originality of the city’s artists, many of whom have lacked wider recognition.

  • {Hollywood} Pajama Party! Bust out your onesies, PJs and gowns!

Pajama Party! Time to roll out of bed and show off your best pajamas, onesies, robe, sleeping gown or other sleeping wear at the Pajama Party (probably not the birthday suit pajamas though, haha)! I figured I can announce this event so you can begin searching for that perfect pair of PJ's - I know that Target has a great selection of onesies but there are other options as well. Ladies, Victoria's Secrets has very comfy PJs! Even Costco has PJs. But, seriously, if you don't mind with what you actually sleep in (that's tasteful...), that will work too! :) As with any good Pajama Party, we'll be playing games such as Twister, Toss the Teddy, Cards Against Humanity, Jenga and more! Pillow fight anyone? Please pay cash $10 cash at the door! We will host this at The Parlor on Melrose! We will start the evening at 9:30PM. Come play some games, have some drinks, and meet other friendly guests. We plan to end the evening at 1:00AM so those taking uber/lyft can hopefully avoid high surcharges! There will be valet parking for those that choose to drive (and some street parking - please read the sign). If you are drinking, please remember to save yourself LOTS of money by taking an uber/lyft (DUI is very costly). This event is cross-posted on several groups - Expect a great turnout! Parking: Valet is $10 per vehicle. There is street and metered parking around the neighborhood.

  • {Santa Monica} Summer Cocktail Mixer @ The Chestnut Club! 🍸🍷🥂🍹

hey guys, Thanks to everyone who made it at our last event @ Mom's bar, everyone had a blast as always! Our next event is at one of the best bars in the Westside (if not LA). This is the first time that a Meetup event has been held at this venue (and I assure you, it won't be the last), so it should be fun. The Chestnut Club offers one of the most extensive spirit collection in all of Southern California, offering over 400 uniquely chosen spirits, liqueurs and fortified wines. They've also been known to make custom cocktails and are equally delicious. Upon entering this upscale establishment, you'll notice that its not a typical LA bar, in fact, it always reminds of some of the cool/hip bars I've been to in NYC (particularly some in the Lower East Side). It offers an interesting combination of a classy decor but with a speakeasy vibe that is both inviting and intimate (sorry, got carried away there). I've reserved the entire area to the left of the bar (all the tables to the left, including the booth) so it can accommodate everyone. The setup encourages people to talk and mingle, and its close enough to the bar that people can just get a quick drink and come back right away (theres a method to my madness). Another bonus, they have a DJ that comes on around 9:30ish to play some awesome tunes, and while they don't have a dance floor, people basically just dance in front of the DJ (because, why the hell not?). Also, "The Room" is literally next door, so if people really want to go dancing, we can just move the festivities next door. This is an event for the - Westside Shenanigans (20s/30s/40s), if you're in the Westside (Santa Monica/West LA/Venice/MDR/Playa Vista/Del Rey/Culver City and surrounding areas), feel free to join this new group as well: https://www.meetup.com/WestsideShenanigans_20s_30s-40s/ ============================ ***DETAILS*** TIME: Event starts @ 8:30pm, just go to the tables to the left, I'll put up some "Meetup" signs as well. ATTIRE: Casual (no tank tops/hoodies/sweat pants/shorts) - c'mon people...this is LA...dress to impress! ADDITIONAL INFO: This bar gets busy around 10ish, so if you get there after, you will wait in line, so try to get there before 10pm. Make sure you RSVP if you're coming, in the event you can't make it, kindly update your RSVP so I can get an accurate headcount. NOTE: This event will be promoted to other groups as well, so we should have a pretty good turnout as always. ============================ This is also a ***FREE*** event, everyone is responsible for their own drinks. **IMPORTANT:** We will NOT condone any inappropriate or unruly behavior! If anyone reports any issues with any of the guests attending (regardless of gender), we will deal with it immediately and you will be escorted out of the venue. The venue management will not tolerate any sort of improper behavior or harassment. In addition to being escorted out, you will be removed from this group.

  • Kayaking Around Sunset Beach

    16910 Pacific Coast Hwy

Let’s go to Sunset Beach and paddle by the yachts and houses in between canals. After we'll head out to Riip Beer Co (Address: 17214 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach, CA 92649) for food and drinks. Meetup at the kayak rental place, OEX (Address: 16910 Pacific Coast Highway, Sunset Beach, 90742) at 1:00 PM. We will plan to paddle out by 1:30 PM If you have one, you're welcome to BYO Kayak. Otherwise, it looks like rentals for singles are $20/hr or doubles at $30/hr* *RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED - Please note that if you buy the current groupon, they're only offering WEEKDAY rentals, not weekends. While some of the nearby large wetland reserve is accessible for exploration at a relatively high tide, we wont be going quite that far. Because of the constricted entrance to Huntington Harbor, the tide lags behind the open ocean tides. Parking is a little tough in this area, so park where you can. If you plan to BYO kayak, I would suggest you arrive early and park/launch from Trinidad Park (3601 Sagamore Dr, Huntington Beach, CA 92649) or Seabridge Park (16252 Countess Dr, Huntington Beach, CA 92649).
