CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) are incredibly useful networks of distributed servers which aim to provide high-availability, low-latency access to static content from any geographical location. In order to do so, these networks require high-quality internet access across the globe. Additionally, these networks often make changes to the content that they serve in order to reduce bandwidth and latency. There are a number of other benefits to CDNs as well as drawbacks, which will be discussed in my talk. The addition of an Internet Exchange in Liverpool could mean the possibility of a Content Delivery server, which would reduce latency of static content serving for local residents.
