HIKE DETAILS: This easy loop hike will be approx 2.3 miles (1-1/2 hrs). We will meet at the Freestone TH parking area in Military Reserve Park. If the weather is nice and the group wants a longer hike we can include the side loop that goes by "elephant rock and ends up at the parking area by the Military Reserve cemetery, then back to the Freestone TH. This hike is rated as an beginner to easy intermediate hike
BRING: light day-hike pack, water and clothing depending on weather. Trail-wise, friendly dogs are ok.

General Info For the foothills hikes in this series: These hikes are starting on nice late fall and winter days early afternoons on weekdays. Various trail heads will be selected for each hike on nice days later. These foothill hikes are not difficult and anyone can participate for the time they have available or the distance they like and then return to the TH early on their own if desired. No one will get lost or get left behind.
As a strong recommendation if you hike or mt bike in the Boise Foothills or Stack Rock or Bogus trails, a great resource is to download the Ridge to Rivers PDF map to a smartphone that is available for a few dollars ($4.99) on the AVENZA MAPS app. Used on a smartphone (both android and apple) will show you all the R2R trails and your precise location using gps.
