What we're about

Globalizing Ideas

Thanks to our growing community, we can debate big ideas with people all over the world... Simultaneously!!

https://ideas-exchange.info/en/

Join our global community of minds and share with people in different countries and from all backgrounds thorough our weekly online debates. Imagine debating with people in 10 different countries at the same time... How awesome is that?

This is a safe, inclusive and respectful space designed to talk to other humans, learn from one another and implement our ideas, in all relevant aspects of life.

We will discuss both “big” and “small” ideas, talking about the past, present, and future, the ideal world and our everyday reality.

Each Meetup will have a main focus subject, with a wide margin to explore other interesting topics.

Our main rule:

“I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Some subjects we’ll explore:

Human wellbeing and psychology

Relationships and family

Society, economics and politics

Lifestyles, cultures and languages

Technology and futurism

Philosophy, religions and ideologies

The “why” and “what for” of life

And many more, that we’ll decide on together…

Welcome to the global community of Ideas Exchange!

Technological development has caused an ever-accelerating rate of change. The digital era has created a great transformation of our daily lives and our time dedicated to reading, thinking and uninterrupted attention has suffered as a result.

Are books losing their fundamental role in how we understand the world around us? Are younger generations suffering as a result of growing up digital? Are we all? And finally, how much is the accelerating pace of modern life affecting our ability to understand, contemplate and enjoy our reality?

We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.

Some subjects we’ll touch on:

● Reading in the digital age: declining or on the rise?
● Reading on devices, pro or con?
● Is there such a thing as good and bad books?
● The educational system – promoting or decreasing critical thinking?
● Abundant knowledge vs abundant distractions
● Our attention spans – going down?
● And so much more!

Upon finishing the get-together, we will have asked ourselves whether our modern world promotes or prevents us from thinking, reading and understanding our reality.

Modern China: Friend or Foe?

Online event

$4.00

Welcome to this fascinating global debate… held simultaneously!

Join participants from cities the world over… don’t miss out!

You can book your space in a few easy steps.

Where were the clothes you’re wearing made, and how about the cell phone or computer you’re reading this from? Many of the products we consume are made in China. Many of us don’t even realize. In our generation we have seen this country grow and slowly become a trading and economic powerhouse, whose factories create products for the entire world and, to some extent, we have come to depend on China, its cheap labor force which has allowed us to have technology, fashion articles and consumption products as never before in the past.

We have also been witnessing the scandals that surround China: the lack of information transparency, social hyper-surveillance, espionage, racial segregation, COVID-19 and the destruction of the autonomy and the rule of law in Hong Kong, to name but a few. While the People’s Republic of China grows in stature, becomes the world’s largest economy and a leader in various strategic sectors, we will ask ourselves:

How should we relate to its presence in the world?

We’ll get together in front of our screens and with coffee or other beverage in hand talk to other human beings that are as passionate as ourselves about finding answers.

Some subjects we’ll touch on:

• China and COVID-19
• The ethics of doing business in China
• The social, political, and environmental impact of buying so many products made in China
• Is China the next great power?
• Does the world need China or does China need the world?
• Can we maintain our lifestyle without Chinese manufacturing?
• China vs democracy and human rights?

Upon finishing the get-together, we will have listened to divers points of view and reflected in our personal relationships with this simultaneously wonderful and mysterious country.
