Webapp Architecture, Part 1 of 6 - 3-tier model

A web application (Webapp) is an application program that is stored and executed on a server, and interacts with users using a browser. Webapps may also expose services used by other webapps. Even a simple webapp needs to deal with many complex issues such as security, data storage, user interaction, error handling, etc. Wrapping all of these requirements into a single application can be a daunting task, particularly when it is necessary to make the design easy to test and maintain.

This presentation is the first in a series of six on web application architecture. This presentation covers the 3-tier webapp design pattern and how it relates to the MVC design pattern. The 3-tier design pattern is then scaled to an enterprise service oriented architecture design pattern. A fully functional modularized application program will be available for review and discussion.

    Hi, Scott,

Could you by any chance post the "Intro to Amazon Web Services with Java" presentation link here – a friend of mine missed that event and would like to catch up :) …

    Thanks, Jane.
