SYLLABUS

ITALIAN INTERMEDIATE/CONVERSATION

Course Description
This 8-week course will help to enhance your fluency in Italian and improve your grasp of the nuances of Italian pronunciation and colloquial usage. Each lesson has a contextualized objective, combining fundamental vocabulary, colloquial expressions, verbs, and other important components of Italian grammar.
Our emphasis will be on speaking and understanding, which means not simply translating words and thoughts from English but developing your ability to think and communicate directly in Italian. This will be reinforced through a variety of in-class activities, including drills, conversation practice, and homework. Fully participating in all these activities will facilitate learning and will also enhance your pronunciation and intonation. There are no make-up classes but if you miss a session, please refer to the syllabus to see what was covered in the book and prepare a few sentences related to that week’s conversation topic on your own.
Lastly, please keep in mind that studying on your own between classes is a very important part of building your language skills, and we strongly recommend that you study at least 1-2 hours per week between sessions. By participating in class and with a bit of study, you will be surprised how quickly your Italian will improve in only 8 weeks! SETTIMANA 01 Topic: La famiglia
