Who are some of your favorite South Asian authors?

I love Adiga, Mistry, Zadie Smith, RK Narayan, VS Naipaul, Delhi and Mumbai Noir, Tamil Pulp Fiction, Vikram Seth, Vikram Chandra, etc. I respect but have never been very moved by Rushdie and Lahiri but am open to being convinced; I never made it through God of Small Things; there's a self-serious stridency in Roy's tone that continues to turn me off, even as I agree with her on a number of points. I also love writers in translation, such as Vaishakka from Karnataka, or Madhump Kunyikuttan from Kerala.

Introduction

From Adiga to Zadie, I love South Asian fiction.
