Come and join us for meditation sessions and discussions on Tibetan Buddhist topics each Saturday morning. Meditation is provided at 9:45 am on Saturdays, followed by quiet sitting and walking meditation at 10 am and a discussion at 10:30 am.
Meditation sessions focus on a variety of disciplined practice of mental and spiritual development designed to develop compassion and loving-kindness for all beings, and awaken our own inherent insight into the nature of reality. Meditation instruction is provided by our qualified KTC members.
The discussion sessions focus on a particular book or DVD series addressing different Buddhist topics. This week we will begin a new book! "The Noble Heart, Changing the World from the Inside Out" by The Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. In this book, His Holiness, The Karmapa "shares his vision for brining social and environmental action into daily life, on a scale we can realistically manage through the choices we make every day - what to buy, what to eat, and how to relate with the people we come across. We can change our world by just changing ourselves, he says, using our basic nobility as our primary resources." You can purchase the book at amazon.com or other bookstores. Extra copies will be available for use on Saturday mornings. This week we will be looking at the Introduction and Chapter 1.
These sessions are sponsored by Karma Thegsum Choling (KTC) a Tibetan meditation center within the Karma Kagyu Lineage under the guidance of the 17th Gyalwan Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorje. The KTC is guided by meditation master Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche of the Karma Triyana Dharmachackra Monaster in Woodstock, NY.
All are welcome. No experience is needed. All sessions are free. Donations are welcomed.
