Please join us for IFN Evansville Hub's monthly meeting in the Browning Events Room at Central Library. Jim Dougherty (see his bio below) will be joining us in person to talk about the Business of Acting: Acting is a business and the business side of the industry is the least taught piece of the puzzle. This discussion will cover the business side of the entertainment industry for actors. Discussion will include information on the casting process for theatrical release motion pictures as well as broadcast television, breaking into established markets, industry standards, communications, agents and managers, the professional actors union (SAG-AFTRA), and why training and professional materials are so important to the actor's success. As always, IFN meetings are free and open to the public; you do NOT have to be a member. Please join us, invite your friends, and help us spread the word! ABOUT JIM: Over the last 35 years, Jim Dougherty has worked on over 60 films in capacities ranging from actor to post production and has also performed in over 300 theatrical productions. Jim is the chief instructor at both the Southeast Actors Academy in Atlanta and Indy Actors Academy in Indianapolis. His most recent screen work includes appearances on ABC's Kevin (probably) Saves the World, FOX's The Gifted, Netflix's House of Cards and Ozark, NBC's Chicago PD, CBS' The Inspectors, and the NatGeo film Killing Reagan. About us: The Indiana Filmmakers Network works to facilitate dialogue among film and video makers across the state of Indiana, as well as any and all aspects of film, theater, media, and the arts. We endeavor to foster a creative environment that provides support, camaraderie, knowledge, and resources to those working to see their visions become reality. We strive to bolster those fundamentals and aspects, all throughout Indiana. Our gatherings are open to those with Hoosier connections who wish to participate: Writers, Directors, Actors, Models, Artists, Photographers, Musicians, Make-up & Hair, Design, Fashion, Production, etc. We envision the Network as a primary resource for any individual or group who work in or around Indiana, as a launching platform for creativity, and as a true network where all are considered equal, regardless of technical knowledge or commercial success. The IFN is a state ran organization, with multiple chapters and affiliates, and with connections across the world. We wish to encourage, motivate, inspire, teach, to give positive reinforcement and information to all those aspiring to achieve their goals and passions; and we are fully opposed by in-fighting, cliques, poor competitions, and over-all negativity. As with the motto for each chapter around the state of Indiana, we leave our personal issues, ideologies, prejudices, and grievances outside the meetings and groups. Come share, workshop, and network with others; talk about you or your groups current projects, plans, goals, events, functions, festivals, etc. Ask us what you would like to see more of from the Indiana Filmmakers Network, our individual chapters and our affiliates. Help us grow, help us help you and others more efficiently, help us make this not only a community, but a family. Please share this page and invite all those that may be interested, thank you! There is absolutely no charge and meetings are always open to the public. We do however have our annual fund-drive, and offer in-membership for $20 (But it is not required for event attendance or group participation).
