What we're about

Beginning April 13, 2018, Indivisible Madison will no longer support this Meetup group. Instead, we encourage you to join Indivisible Madison on our website at https://www.indivisiblemadison.org/contact/join-us/

Following is some information about Indivisible Madison, so we can entice you to join on our website.

Indivisible Madison is one of more than 5,800 groups nationwide inspired by the Indivisible Guide, a handbook written by former Congressional staffers about how we can apply the successful tactics of the Tea Party to protect and promote our values with members of Congress. You’ll find the guide at http://indivisible.org . It’s a quick and easy read.

Indivisible believes that protecting our values, our neighbors, and ourselves will require mounting a similar resistance to the Trump agenda — but a resistance built on the values of inclusion, tolerance, and fairness. Trump is not popular. He does not have a mandate. He does not have large congressional majorities. If a small minority in the Tea Party could stop President Obama, then we - the majority - can stop a petty tyrant named Trump.

Indivisible Madison’s motto is Resist & Reform. We work to influence federal, state and local elected officials, and we add reform to the Indivisible Guide’s focus on resistance. We resist the Trump/Ryan/
Walker agenda, which is based on self-interest, authoritarianism, prejudice, discrimination, inequality, and corruption. We reform by making a commitment to creating a more just society; demanding that our elected officials represent their constituents rather than their campaign donors; addressing systemic injustice and racism; preserving the environment; and protecting and promoting voting rights and fair elections.

We are nonpartisan. We organize based on issues, not political parties.
