Good composition (subject isn't centered and there's more space towards where he's looking then behind him. Small aperture renders the possible cluttered background obsolete. Sharp focus. Good white balance. Good lighting- shade is important vs the bright sun. The more I look at him, the more I wonder what he's looking at. Licking his injured finger is an important, interesting element to the photo.

Greg, I love the innosense I see. This child appears to still have his curly locks...something most mothers never want to lose for some reason. His little tongue partially out of his gapping mouth...Again, a look of pure innosence. And...what little child has never had a "kiss me Mommy finger all bandaged to make it better because of that magic formula..." So...maybe there is a little tweeking as far as "good" photography...but, I was so drawn to the subject matter...the message that I didn't really notice too much of the other. Plus...I wonder if the picture was "perfect"...would it still give that same expression...the expression that says...I'm not perfect! But, you do still love me don't you...Innosence...

This note is geared toward Jeff's comment. Why would you want the boy centered? I thought the "rule of thirds" was being played here. So when do you want to center your subject and when do you want to use the rules of thirds? I'm confused. lol
