Hi all you whiskey lovers! I wanted to share an awesome event that I encourage you to attend! I went to this last year with some family and friends and had the pleasure of trying several new bourbons and having the chance to win some rare bottles. Unfortunately wasn't a big winner last year, but fingers crossed for this time! I've posted the link below, so be sure to get your tickets!
This is a group for anyone with a wonder and appreciation for whiskey with a desire to learn more about the spirit while meeting new people. Even if you don't currently like whiskey, feel free to join us for the opportunity to sample some things you may not have tried yet while making new friends. All (21 & overs!) are welcome! Whiskey has become increasingly popular with a 30% increase in consumption in the U.S. from a decade ago. And let's forget that old stereotype about whiskey being a "man's drink." Per Fred Minnick, author of Whiskey Women, 37% of whiskey imbibers in the U.S. are women, up from only about 15% back in the 1990s.
To get you excited to experience a bit of whiskey bliss, here's one of the best and most accurate descriptions of whiskey I've stumbled across:
"If when you say whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating drink that puts the spring in the old gentleman’s step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the drink which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life’s great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows......then certainly I am for it. This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise.” -Noah "Soggy" Sweat
