I am helping to organize an Indiana proposal for the DoT/FAA UAS Integration Pilot Program. The State of Indiana is a lead applicant and the goal of the program is to spearhead UAS integration into the national airspace. Here's more info on the program: https://www.faa.gov/uas/programs_partnerships/uas_integration_pilot_program/splash/
I am posting this to let any interested industry participants know that you have until December 13th at 2PM to submit your letter of intent as an interested party to the FAA. Industry participants will coordinate with the state/local/tribal governments in this program. If you are interested in participating please follow the above link and submit your interest. Then email [masked]. This is NOT a physical meetup. This is being scheduled to alert and remind any interested parties of Indy DUG.
The Check3GPS microsite is up and running! (https://sites.google.com/pierceaerospace.net/check3gps/home)
Thank you to those of you who came out to previous meetings and got briefed on Check3GPS. You are all part of an initial sample group that will help shape best practices. Your feedback is vital and the Unmanned Aircraft Safety Team greatly appreciates you filling out the "Feedback" form on the microsite so we can gauge the impacts of Check3GPS.
For those that weren't able to make previous Meetups we invite you to join the rest of us by using the Check3GPS planning and safety process in your drone operations. More info is in the microsite.
We would like some initial feedback early next week. So please head to the site and fill out the feedback section if you have been using Check3GPS. Haven't used Check3GPS yet? No problem, try it while flying this weekend and let us know. We look forward to the feedback!
This is not a physical Meetup and Check3GPS is voluntary, but I am scheduling this for 7PM on Monday night as a reminder.

He has written policy / ops manuals, serves on the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy charted Unmanned Aircraft Safety Team, and was recently invited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to speak about implementing future frameworks for a global Unmanned Traffic Management System (UTM).
Launch Fishers has kindly sponsored this event. Please thank them if you see them! This is a great opportunity to check out the space and get a glimpse or even become a part of the entrepreneurial hub in the Indianapolis Metro area. Launch Fishers serves the unique needs of entrepreneurs working to start and build high-potential enterprises across a broad range of categories including technology, health information, life sciences, biotech, consumers products, agri-tech and more. More than just a space, however, Launch Fishers offers its members the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded individuals, which, as every successful entrepreneur knows, can be the difference between growth and failure.
The inaugural Santa Claus Cup drone race will be held in Santa Claus Indiana in conjunction with the Lincoln Land Drone Fest on Saturday May 13. I've spoken with the host of the event and this sounds like it has the makings of a good event with future prospects. There will be several folks from the Indiana drone industry on hand as well. Here's a link with more details:
We will be exploring an opportunity for drone racing at Westfield's Grand Park on April 25th at 4:30PM. They have a large indoor complex that may work for FPV racing - especially during the winter months. This is purely an exploratory meet up to engage with the folks there and evaluate the space for racing.
Hi Group. AT&T is hosting a Hackathon that will be held at Launch Fishers. This is a great way engage with local companies and municipalities that work with drones and IoT on a daily basis. This is also a great way to put your skills to test to engage with these people and present drone/IoT solutions at the Hackathon. AT&T is providing food, caffeine, & equipment for hacking. I'll be there in the Pierce Aerospace booth and I am happy to talk about drone engagement and ideas locally and nationally. Here's a link for more info & signing up:
