Tell us a little about your writing career.

Staff writer on Cathedral High School's newspaper, THE MEGAPHONE, Senior Year. Staff Writer, THE FRANKLIN, (Franklin College) 1985-87. Internship: Department of Media Relations and Special Projects, Winter Term, 1987, Franklin College. Wrote articles concerning Franklin Colleges activities for release. One, describing a professor and several students future trip to The Soviet Union, was picked up by UPI, appearing in Franklin (the town of) a few other surrounding town's newspapers. Staff Writer for THE SAGAMORE, IUPUI's student newspaper. February of 1990- July of 1992. Contributor, INDY READS, a quarterly newsletter for GILL (The Greater Indianapolis Literacy League, now named INDY READS.) February 1996-July 1998. ALSO: Was a tutor, 1994-97. Proofreader-TRADER.COM, Indianapolis. 1995-2002. Volunteer Work: Tutor with The Greater Indianapolis Literacy League (GILL- Indy Reads' previous name), and reporter for it's newsletter, INDY READS.

Who are your literary influences?

Louisa May Alcott, E.B. White, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, Erma Bombeck, Doris Kearns Goodwin.

What do you hope to gain from our monthly workshop?

I hope to gain the ability to write a fine novel. I hope to learn how to be a fine short story, or extremely short story writer. My form of poetry is long. (Think of A VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS.) so I hope to explore other kinds, learning to excel in them.
