Position Summary

Immersion, the leader in haptic touch feedback, is seeking an experienced and talented software developer to design, develop and maintain haptic software systems and associated software tools. We need a developer who can:

·handle multiple simultaneous assignments,
·openly share his/her code and participate in design and code reviews,
·learn new platforms and skills quickly and continuously,
·handle the occasional schedule crunch, and
·blend into the multi-faceted software team that works out of our San Jose office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned as business needs require):

This developer will report to a local Software Manager and is expected to be a proficient programmer versed in C, C++ and Java. Experience developing applications for Windows is assumed. Experience with Android, Windows Mobile and other mobile/embedded operating systems is highly desirable.

The developer will face these typical haptic programming tasks, as well as several others not listed here:

·develop and maintain Android applications, daemons and kernel modules;
·develop and maintain Windows-based applications and tools for designing haptic effects;
·develop platform-independent haptic APIs;
·maintain and develop demo applications and sales tools to speed the adoption of Immersion’s haptic technology;
·write legible and useful documentation to describe how to use haptic APIs and tools;
·port existing implementations to various operating systems and platforms, both new and old.


·5-10 years experience in C/C++/Java development;
·Bachelor in computer Science, engineering or other scientific degree;
·Rigorous design and analysis skills;
·Familiarity with Android application development (SDK, NDK, Eclipse);
·Familiarity with the Windows operating environment (programming in Visual Studio);
·Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite for documentation/communication skills.


·Mobile platform development experience, such as Android, Linux, Windows CE, Qualcomm Rex
·Any experience in the field of haptics/force feedback;
·User Interface design;
·Development experience with Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7;
·Experience in developing code that communicates with external peripherals over buses like RS-232 serial, USB, Bluetooth, I2C;
·Familiarity with system-level engineering – hardware + software, circuits and actuators
