IA For Mobile: Squeezing Lots of Content into a Tiny Space

For this event, we will have one speaker, Krispian. The format is 20 minutes of speaking with questions afterward. Bring your IA and CS questions, learn something, teach something! IA for Mobile: Squeezing lots of content into a tiny space. with Krispian Emert Krispian describes her talk: My challenge: take the client's large existing web site and "make it mobile." Creating a mobile version of a web site is not a matter of squeezing existing IA and content into a smaller space. We've all heard of the "mobile first" strategy -- but what if you don't have the luxury of creating a new IA from scratch? What if you cannot reduce the amount of certain types of content due to government compliance issues? I will present the case study of how I designed the mobile version of , the challenges, constraints and the lessons learned along the way. How this talk will help the audience: We will discuss the pros and cons of reductionist IA versus "mobile first" IA , as well as content strategy for the mobile space. We will brainstorm some alternate ideas on how challenges could have been approached. Hopefully we'll all come away with better strategies for mobile design. Bio: Krispian Emert is a Senior UX Consultant with 10+ years experience in all stages of UX -- information architecture, user research, interaction design-- from strategy and conception through to production and implementation.
