Talk #1 Alex Bukharov - Managing CloudFormation at scale Deployments in AWS are always fun, but when they grow bigger you may start looking for some orchestration scenarios. Here in Innablr we’ve been on a long journey managing Cloudformation deployments and along the way faced numerous challenges and made a few design decisions. I will happily share this experience with you. Talk #2 Corey Quinn https://twitter.com/QuinnyPig - ""Don't You Know Who I Am?!" The Danger of Celebrity in Tech" Thought Leaders. DevOps Heroes. Public Speakers. We listen to them as they talk about their solutions, their approaches, and their inevitable triumphs. But are we starting down a dark path, as we forget that 'what makes a great talk' and 'what makes sense for your environment' may not be the same thing? DigIO

Please join us to talk about infrastructure as code. DigIO have kindly offered to host the meetup and will supply food and beverages. We usually have 2 technical talks per meetup. Please check back a week or so before the meetup to see who's volunteered to speak. Sometimes we have 3! Talk #1 Rob N - Fastmail https://twitter.com/robn/ - Consul Consul is a distributed data store with a bunch of useful tools built on top to help with service management and discovery within a datacentre. I’ll tell you a bit about the basics of the data store, the service catalog, health check and KV store facilities built on top of it, some of the tools you can use with it and some of things we built on top of it. Talk #2 Charles Korn https://github.com/charleskorn/ Local build and testing environments as code: because life's too short not to. The value of defining our production infrastructure as code is unquestionable, but in 2018 we still struggle with our local build and testing environments. Too often new team members' first experience on a new project is a few days working out which tools they need to install, and another few days of then discovering the magic combination of tool versions that will happily coexist and the configuration required to make them behave as we'd like. Furthermore, as the application evolves and changes over time, maintaining and updating this environment across all developers' machines and CI agents can be incredibly painful. And that's before we even think about integration and journey testing, where we'd like to quickly and reliably spin up external dependencies like databases and other services in a known state to test against. There is a better way! Imagine being able to run your builds and tests quickly, consistently and completely automatically everywhere - on your machine, your colleagues' machines and on CI - and to be up and running in just a few minutes without the overhead of virtual machines, thanks to the power of Docker. And all this without fiddling around with Docker Compose YAML files or shell scripts. Well imagine no more... building that better way has been a project of mine for over a year now, and we've been using it day-to-day for months. I'd love to share it and the ideas behind it with you and show you how you can start using it today. (You can get a sneak peek at https://github.com/charleskorn/batect) Talk #3 Peter Hall https://twitter.com/peterkh Is No-Ops the future of DevOps? With an increasing number of good SaaS options for development and operations tooling; combined with FaaS architecture that requires almost no infrastructure when run in a public cloud setting, where does this leave the Ops in DevOps? This talk will look at the changing landscape for systems engineering and how I predict how both the role of Developers and Operations will continue to evolve. If you have a topic you want to present please get in touch. (As always, please update your RSVP as your avaliablity changes.
