What types of food do you most enjoy? Does your cultural or ethnic/background influence your enjoyment of food and cooking?

I mainly enjoy eating asian infusion style foods and also "haute" style cuisine. Tapas are another favorite of mine partly because of my hispanic ethnicity. I enjoy them mainly because of the spanish flair added to a traditional american or even an asian dish. My mother really enjoys creole cooking and while we lived in Miami for some time she was able to learn traditional Cuban dishes from many of the locals. I really find the heart and soul of cooking to be buried within these dishes.

Describe your level of cooking expertise. Beginner? Intermediate? Advanced? Professional? Experimental?

I would say my level of cooking is intermediate experimental. I have really began cooking more in the recent year and while I love cooking basic traditional recipes, I enjoy experimenting with them. Random things will pop into my head of what I can add to a basic lemon pepper grilled chicken.

Are there any particular cooking techniques you would like to learn?

I would really like to learn proper use of a knife and different cutting techniques. Even though I consider myself Intermediate, I know I'm not familiar with many techniques beginners are taught in a cooking school. So whatever any of those are, I would gladly love to learn.
