Mars Mission [one way]

Would you join a one way mission? It would take months to get there. Your crew would be small. How do you choose them? What skill sets would you plan for? What personalities would work? What would cause problems? What supplies would you take? What sort of problems would you plan for. All your help is from what you planned prior to bring with you. And...maybe... a radio call home where up to 20 minutes could pass before you start to hear a reply back! No rescue. No escape capsule and quick return to earth. Would you pick two married couples? All singles? All females! An odd number, like 3 or 5? An even number, like 4 or 6? No one older than 35? No one younger than X? What are the human dynamics involved? How to keep the peace?

Interesting discussion with lots of differing opinions and interesting interpretations of what would make for a good crew to Mars.

My 1st group. Really enjoyed it. Fun, intelligent, thought-provoking discussion. Well-moderated, intriguing panel of attendees with lots to share. Liked that we could continue our conversation over a meal/drink to keep it flowing.

Back in the 1950s, a magazine explored what it would take to build a space station, explore the moon and on to mars. First you start with over 700 massive rocket launches.... http://io9.com/the-great-1952-space-program-453511252
