Join the Scottsdale Sangha for a day of Vipassana (Mindfulness) Meditation. We will spend the day on a lesser know practice from the 1st Foundation of Mindfulness (Mindfulness of the Body;) the Four Elements practice. The most recognizable Insight practice is, of course, mindfulness of the breath, also from the 1st Foundation; however there are more practices that can provide us with direct access to our experience. Exploring the body through the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water provides another way of relating with the direct, vivid experience that is our bodies.
This daylong retreat will offer alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation, instructions and guidance in Vipassana practice, an afternoon session of gentle, mindful Qi Gong and a Dharma talk. This retreat is appropriate for beginning meditators as well as experienced practitioners.
$20 early registration, $25 at the door. Fee goes to room rental only, the teacher is does not receive any payment as the tradition has been for 2600 years; these teachings are offered in the dana tradition, which means “generosity freely offered.” The teachings are considered too precious to be bought and sold, so teachers rely on the kindness and generosity of donations.
