Monthly Saturday Morning InterPlay in Ravenswood

InterPlay is a global social movement dedicated to creating community through play and fun.  It is a practice and philosophy rooted in the power of play.  It is an easy to learn, creative process that  uses movement, storytelling, and voice.  It balances experience with reflection and activity.

Integrating body, mind, heart and spirit, InterPlay celebrates and creates connection and community.  Through this simple form of play, we learn more about ourselves and each other.  It is incremental, affirming, and something that anybody can do!

Currently, the main InterPlay sessions in Chicago occur in Ravenswood at Ravenswood Presbyterian Church on the 2nd Friday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm and the following morning on Saturday from 9:30 am to noon.  Participants can attend one or both sessions.  All who desire to participate are encouraged to RSVP to give the leaders a sense of who will be attending.  However, an RSVP is not necessary to attend.  Note that the ideas and activities in the event itself do not necessarily represent those of Ravenswood Presbyterian Church.

Certified InterPlay Leader, Marti Szalai-Raymond, invites us to wake up through InterPlay's empowering step by step approach to playing in the moment. We will go deeper into ourselves and our stories through movement, story, sound and stillness.

1.  The cost for first time participants is $5.

2.  Repeating InterPlay participants have several options:

*Single class:  $15

*5 class card:  $60 ($12/class)

*10 class card: $100 ($10/class)

*class cards are good through August 2014

*Checks may be written to "Outtabounds"

Marti Szalai-Raymond has over 25 years of experience as an actor, teacher, and director. She holds a BA in theatre, studied performance art at Art Institute of Chicago and received her Interplay Leadership certification in 2000.  For 11 years as Artistic Director of Thresholds Theatre Arts Project she created devised theater based upon the personal stories of the ensemble, comprised of adults and teens living with persistent and severe mental illness.  The group performed in major Chicago theaters, toured high schools, universities, and conferences. Marti currently teaches Interplay classes at the Ravenswood Presbyterian Church in Chicago and is performing in 4Tell's "Somewhere Under the Table" as part of the Rhino Fest at Prop Theatre thru Feb 16th.  Marti's passion for gathering and sharing story continues and she invites all to dive in deep, and Play.

I want to say I had fun at this class, especially with two participants new to me. Amazing how fast InterPlay cuts through the usual barriers between people! It allows us to get to know one another quickly, easily and comfortably as well as at each person's own pace. Quite amazing really!
