The club was founded by Dawud Hasan. This is a club for anyone interested in learning traditional Chinese internal training systems (i.e. Tai Chi, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Gong etc.) for health-related fitness and self-defense. Because Internal Strength Training (IST) is rooted in traditional Chinese internal training systems dating back to the Liang Dynasty (502-556 A.D). It can be defined as a method in which to cultivate the breath energy and reconditioning of the body to move in connection with mind/intent, breathe energy and harmonious body movement . With persistent practice over a length of time, practitioners will acquire melding of mind and body, develop alignment (both internal and external), and internal force.

The club serves as a means in which to promote and share the benefits of internal strength training with others. Our members belong to a very special discipline and unique tradition, we endeavor to uphold this tradition and pass on the knowledge of some rare and very special internal strength development training methods like tai chi mind/body exercises to others.

As an active club for adults 18 years and older, the IST Lifelong Learning Club of Myrtle Beach endeavors to sponsor weekly training sessions, workshops, and special quarterly and annual events for club members and their families at various locations.

This meet-up is for new and experienced internal training practitioners who wish to deepen their study and practice. We offer all entry-level members the opportunity to learn tai chi mind-body exercises for health-related fitness and self-defense. A personal and practical means for taking care of one's health before sickness. Weekly 1 hour classes and monthly workshops are offered to all IST entry-level club members.
