Holiday Cookie Exchange

  • For December, because of the crazy schedules many of us have during the Holidays. I thought we'd do something simple like a cookie exchange.

    Here's how it works:
Everyone brings 2 dozen homemade cookies to share. Then each person gets one cookie from each person there. Make sure to bring an extra container to collect and take 2 dozen cookies home!

In addition, please bring an appetizer or drink to share during the event.

Unfortunately, I contracted a sore throat and terrible sinus and head cold, and I have been home sick most of this week. I am still coughing, and don't want to dampen the holiday spirit with coughing! I thought I would be better by now had still planned on coming until this morning when I woke up still coughing. Enjoy and have a cookie for me!

A few of my Russian tea cakes ended up being Russian pancakes. I have no idea what happened to them but fortunately I did end up with two dozen cookies

Change of cookie: Pfeffernuesse, rather than the gluten-free Coconut Sushi. More festive.

Wow! This cookie exchange controversy is bigger than the Trump election. I hope there are no street protests about the one or two cookie options Saturday.......

    2 · November 27

  • James

Is 12 of two types of cookies ok, or must we do 24 of one type? Some people may not like peanut butter, for example. If there are 24 with only peanut butter there is no exchange because that person won't want a peanut or peanut butter ingredient. hence, by having two types it increases the odds everyone has an equal exchange.
It seems cookie exchange can be complicated and rigid. Haha

These are easy rules to follow! :)

      November 27

    • JamesC

James, both of your cookies sound delicious. I don't want to miss out on either one. Why don't you just make 24 of each? Yum!

I'll probably do a Togo Coconut Cookie for half and the other 12 cookies perhaps a so called Christmas Cookie that is filled with dried fruit and chocolate, white and butterscotch chips.

I'll make my favorite childhood Italian Christmas cookie- aside from fig cookies- sesame S cookies. No gooey sweetness, hard, cruncy lasts forever peasant faire an aquired taste.

I'd be interested in a holiday cookie exchange, but would want gluten-free treats. Anyone out there interested in doing a g-f cookie exchange, possibly the same day? Or... would other people be bringing gluten-free treats I could take in exchange for mine? Feedback, please!

    • Ann

Dave, challenge accepted. I'll bring a gluten free & sugar free cookie. Oatmeal raisin? What's your poison?

      November 20

    • Dave V

Hi Ann... It is not necessary, but thanks for your suggestion if you get around to it! I LOVE Oatmeal and Raisin so much that is what I have been eating for breakfast for the last zillion years (yeah... I am kind of old :) )
