Want to improve your English and meet new people?
International English Learners is for people who want to improve their English and meet other people who want to do the same, and for English 'native speakers' who want to help them.
All nationalities are welcome. You need to be at least an intermediate level speaker of English to benefit from the Meetups. If you are not sure about your level, call me to chat about this.
What does IEL do? It gives you, we hope, a new topic each time you come, and some new vocabulary, expressions, phrasal verbs or idioms related to that topic. We also design activities where you get to learn at your own speed, with other learners through discussion, and finally to practise using the new language in questions with as many people as possible. We try to make the activities fun and not last for too long so you don't get bored, and to make the language useful for your lives in English speaking countries.
What does IEL not do? We do not give traditional language lessons where a teacher presents grammar etc. as we find this does not allow the learners enough time to practise speaking, which is what most people who come want to do. If you are looking for grammar practice, there might be some other groups that deal more with grammar in a traditional way. If you are looking for advice about language schools, or you want to talk about private lessons, feel free to send us a message.
IEL meetups are all about learning some new words, speaking as much English as possible, meeting new people, and having FUN! We meet at various places in London so keep an eye on the web page.
There will also be a professional English teacher to help you.
Meetups cost from £5 - £7 (depending on location) and are paid in cash when you come to a meetup.
NB We do have some attendance rules and if you RSVP that you are coming 3 times and do not attend or change your RSVP to "not going", you will be removed as a member from the group. This is to ensure we always have space for people who want to come.
