What we're about

The ISGA was started by Vicki Latham after living in Europe for l6 years and having groups in Paris, Belgium and Holland there which were quite successful to help people socialize and make friends. This group is geared for people living in Sugar Land, Galleria, Stafford, Missouri City, Richmond & Rosenberg, Tx and surrounding areas. In this group, we get together monthly with Americans, as well as those from abroad, and enjoy restaurants, themed parties (all members can host a themed, social evening if they like, just let the coordinator know when you join and which month; we all help out with the food and drinks), and we venture to such places as Sam Houston Racepark, performances in the Theater District of Houston or Stafford, visit various museums, have picnics and venture to the zoo, we hold sporting events such as bowling, volley ball games, softball games, badminton, and Wii game tournaments, enjoy going to the cinema, etc. We enjoy tasting and learning about different foods at various restaurants and various types of attire. The group is for Americans as well as those who come from other countries. Its interesting to meet people from different states or countries and get together and socialize which helps to also break down stereotypes, etc.

Each month, we strive to have an amusing time and if you read some of our reviews you will see that members are so happy that they attended and found this group! IT's a good way to break down stereotypes as well. If you like to entertain or get out of the house to venture out sometimes, or just want to meet new friends, this is a great group to join. Its also a great group for multi-cultural couples, etc. The coordinator takes care of all of the organizing, so even if you decide to host a get-together the coordinator informs all the members and helps to organize the food, etc. If you do host a function, we ask that your guests pay a fee set by the coordinator for that particular event which helps with prizes, etc., and future ISGA themed events at other locatons. The age range for the ISGA is 35 on up, a mature group that want to mingle and have a good time with other mature individuals and couples, not the immature rude type. We aren't a dating service, but rather just a group together together mingle or socialize with but you never know who you might meet. Its a good way to network, too; you can introduce your business or maybe show some of your products if you are in retail, on a side table if you decide to host while we all socialize, browse and enjoy the refreshments. We find that everyone has something in common to talk about, whether its traveling, kids, various hobbies, business, etc. We also play a small game sometimes at some of the get-togethers in private homes or restaurants to see who will win a nice gift or two, and the gift usually surrounds the theme of the party, and this idea is quite different from most groups and something extra to look forward to.

We currently have a membership fee of only $45 a year per person or $90 per couple (the dues increment periodically to keep up with the economies and help with administrative costs). All dues should be mailed in to the coordinator, Vicki Latham, l6l5 Turning Leaf Court, as soon as you join or within two weeks of joining, and then each year you will be notified when its time to renew them again. You have a certain amount of time once notified to make sure they are turned in and kept up to date, as we all work as a team, and it also helps to cover the website costs for the group, and other admins. costs for the group, through meetup.com. You can also get a 6 month membership for only $25.00 so its totally up to you. The membership dues help to keep the group going smoothly for decorations, meetup web cost fees and other expenses incurred when the coordinators give prizes, themed parties for your enjoyment, (you are also encouraged to host if you want and the coordinator will secure some decorations for your party if you don't have any to match your theme). The membership fee is a small price compared to going to a nice restaurant for a nice meal. And, there are usually various courses when parties are held at the coordinator's home, for instance. Also, we feel that these dues will keep the group exclusive as we are trying to be careful who joins.

The first step is to apply for membership to the ISGA through this website by answering a few simple quesitons honestly and submitting your photo (and your mate) as well.your name(s) on the list. We will have a cut-off at some point so you might want to join now while the group is small. If you are single, and want to bring a date sometimes check with the coordinator, there is an entrance fee for non members if its at the coordinator's private home. me, or see if there are extra seats at the table if at a restaurant, but remember reservations are given to ISGA members first. So if its date that you will bring all the time, its probably best to get them to join. But if not, just check for available seating with the coordinator at restaurants or see if its possible to bring a date to a private home, most times it is if they pay the guest fee.

Our events are geared for adults. And remember you aren't obligated to come to everything that we do, but we ask that you simply rsvp on the meetup.com website for each event so that we will know that you have received the invitations to each event. The more events that you attend, the more you see what we do. Members should try to attend at least 3 functions a year though, and remember, each time you come, you make a new friend! And its a good way to network, too!

We look forward to more fun events in the ISGA and hope that you can join in on the fun too! Tell your friends about us!

Viva the ISGA!
