- Day trip TOLANTONGO exploring the natural park, river and caves - 1 DAY
The Angel of Independence
$70.00
Let´s explore the beautiful natural park, river, waterfalls and caves of Grutas de Tolantongo together!
The natural park of Tolantongo is built along a box canyon, open on one end and closed on the other. The mountains around the canyon are volcanic, heating the water to steamy temperatures and infusing it all with minerals, forming some of the world's loveliest hot springs. And whether you'd prefer to just soak in all this natural beauty for as long as possible, or you want something a little more exciting, all is posible.
There are several ways to enjoy this Mexican geothermal wonderland. The first is to explore the tunnel and cave - this grotto features a warm, spring-fed pool and river, and also has warm, mineral-rich water misting in from the walls and ceiling... it's basically like an all-natural sauna, with a pool for swimming. If that's a little too steamy for you, then a dip in the slightly cooler river might be more your speed. The flowing water provides an almost massage-like effect, and its mesmerizing blue adds to the effect... not only does it make the whole experience feel more magical, but the water's color comes from salts and minerals dissolved in it: perfect for soaking in.
You can get an exfoliating mask or mud treatment to further the relaxation. You can also enjoy hiking and camping in this serene environment. If you can't get enough unwinding, then head to the waterfall pools, natural springs that have been dammed up to create 40 or so cliffside travertine terraces, each with natural spring water for bathing and relaxing. They've also got ziplines and an epic suspension bridge... because the experience of getting an adrenaline rush from the zipline and then coming down from that high in a cliffside hot spring is kind of the best :-).
The price is 1150 Mexican Pesos / small group and includes private transport for our group, experienced driver, and explanations in Spanish and English and entrance to Tolantongo. Please send a whatsapp to [masked] (Lidia Herrera) to ask if there are still places available, to confirm your participation and to receive the payment information (you can pay either by transfer, by cash deposit at any Banamex bank or cash payment at any Oxxo store). It is important to pay at least 5/7 days before the trip, to make sure we can arrange the right transport for the right amount of people.

- Xochimilco flowers Fest boat / trajinera trip and parade Mexican Local Tradition
Metro Etiopia; in front of Restaurant Toks
$46.00
Let´s expierence one of the most beautiful and oldest traditions of Mexico City: La Flor más bella del Ejido (The most beautiful flower of the ejido - communal lands).
From ancient times, when Tlahuicatl, third Lord of the Xochimilcas ruled (1307), the cult of the goddess Xochiquetzalli, goddess of flowers, was established. During the colonial times, the cult to this goddess was modified.
The parade of the flower women originated when the celebrations of the Friday of Dolores were mixed with the flower cult. Initially the parade took place in the Canal de la Viga, in the town of Santa Anita in Iztacalco. First the representatives of the society of New Spain attended these festivities and, with the passage of time, the festivity acquired a popular character in which the famous people of the time met up with the most humble people of the town.
The parties were held at the piers that led to the old Merced market and those of the Puente del Carbón and La Leña that connected to Tláhuac and Xochimilco. These festivities coincided with the celebration of the Friday of Dolores, day in which the market was installed so that the inhabitants bought their provisions for the following week in which they had to remain in prayer. There, popular dances, meals, flavored drinks with pulque and contests were organized.
In 1921, the newspaper El Universal, called the beauty contest "La India Bonita", to celebrate the centennial of the consummation of Independence, whose goal was to enhance the beauty of indigenous women in Mexico. In 1936, at the instigation of General Lázaro Cárdenas, the women's beauty contest "The most beautiful flower of the ejido" was created, aimed at enhancing the mestizo beauty that inhabits the ejidal zone (communal lands) of Mexico City.
Since 1955, the festival of "The most beautiful flower of the ejido" has been celebrated in Xochimilco. If you are able to attend this magnificent festival, which is intended to keep the pre-Hispanic traditions alive and to exalt the beauty of Mexican women, be sure to visit Xochimilco on Friday of Sorrows.
After watching this amazing event, we will take a traditional boat trip on the channels of Xochimilco by Trajiner. The price is 750 pesos per person, without transportation, includes breakfast, terras reservation, trip/ tour in trajinera boat and explanations by certified guide. Breakfast includes juice and fruit, coffee with bread and red or green chilaquiles with either chicken, meat or egg.
Send a Whatsapp to [masked] to receive the payment information (Lidia Herrera).

Let´s experience a popular Holy Week tradition by visiting seven churches on Holy Thursday. The tradition is an ancient practice, probably originating in Rome, where early pilgrims visited the seven major basilicas as penance.
In this case we will visit the beautiful borough of Iztacalco in Mexico City.
Iztacalco is one of the 16 delegaciones (boroughs) into which Mexico's Federal District is divided. It is located in the center-east of the district and is the smallest of the city’s boroughs. The area’s history began in 1309 when the island of Iztacalco, in what was Lake Texcoco, was settled in 1309 by the Mexica who would later found Tenochtitlan, according to the Codex Xolotl. The island community would remain small and isolated through the colonial period, but drainage projects in the Valley of Mexico dried up the lake around it.

- WALKING TOUR CERRO DE LA ESTRELLA ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE & NATIONAL PARK – MEX CITY
Needs a location
$22.00
In the Southern part of Mexico City we can find Cerro de La Estrella, 1 of the 6 archeological sites in Mexico City, around 40 minutes from the historic city center.
Cerro de la Estrella archeological site and national park, on a clear day, has one of the best 360 views all over Mexico City, from the top of an extinct vulcano. The park was originally designated in 1938 with 1,100 hectares, but the growth of the city has encroached on it and left it with less than 200 hectares. The site is named after the colonial-period Hacienda de la Estrella, located on the flanks of the hill.
Culture: Azteca.Period: 900 – 1521. The slopes of the hill where the hacienda was located had been inhabited from the earliest times, and the settlement grew in importance as the site of New Fire ceremonies, believed to revive the sun at the end of the cycle. It was celebrated every 52 years with ceremonies held in 1351, 1403, 1455 and 1507. The fall of Tenochtitlan prevented the celebration of the fifth event.

MAGICAL FORESTS, VOLCANOES & FIREFLIES
Join us this weekend on a beautiful date with nature, walking around beautiful hiking trails through the pristine woods at the feet of the Izta Popo volcanoes in the State of Mexico, at only 2 hours from Mexico City. At dusk, the entire forest will lit up little by little with thousands of fireflies. The most beautiful show that mother nature can present!
First stop is an amazing nature reserve that featured in the National Geographic magazine. Ideally we are received with the most perfect view on the dormant Iztachihuatl volcano. Here we will first make a beautiful walk / hike through a canyon, along an ancient dry river bed, then through virgin pinewoods and along a a beautiful valley with Christmas trees. On the way back, we can try Pulque and Mezcal and relax or walk a bit more, around a beautiful pond.
We then drive to one of our most favorite traditional restaurants, in another nature reserve. With some of the best enchiladas and chilaquiles that we tried so far, with amazing local cheese. Other traditional dishes are available as well. Then we make another walk, along beautiful colored cabins, through other beautiful woods. Plus with a little luck, we can see the active Popocatepetl volcano.
Then we will go to a brand new firefly sanctuary that has not been discovered by the masses yet. After a drive through unpaved roads, we reach the heart of the virgin forest. Reserva de Luciérnagas is truly one of Mexico’s best hidden treasures and a perfect way to get off the beaten path. During the months of June, July and August, 200 hundred hectares of the forest light up by thousands and thousands of fireflies.
