Let´s have a great encounter with nature and explore the Firefly Sanctuary in the State of México.
We will also visit Gillow Castle, Hacienda Chautla and a lavender plantation during this weekend trip. Reserva de Luciérnagas in Estado de Mexico is truly one of Mexico’s best hidden treasures and a perfect way to get off the beaten path while you’re in Mexico City.
During the months of June, July and August, 200 hundred hectares of the forest light up by thousands and thousands of fireflies. Walking through the narrow paths through the woods at night, watching the thousands of fireflies is truly a top-notch experience that will simply leave you breathless. The reason this phenomena occurs is due to the fact that during summer, fireflies reproduce; females light up to attract males and mate.
The price is 1950 Mexican Pesos per person, staying in nice, safe cabins (shared cabins for 6 people each). Also includes private transport for our small group, experienced driver, entrance to Hacienda and Castle Gillow, visit to a lavender plantantion, entrance to the Firefly Sanctuary and explanations in Spanish and English.
