In the next meetup, Yomna will teach us about Zerocoin (http://zerocoin.org/) and some kinds of cryptographic voting systems. Zerocoin was a proposed project to fix a major weakness in Bitcoin: "the lack of privacy guarantees we take for granted in using credit cards and cash. The goal of Zerocoin is to build a cryptocurrency where your neighbors, friends and enemies can’t see what you bought or for how much."
Note: this is *not* a talk on the zerocash protocol or the new zcash cryptocurrency.
The introduction of this meeting will explain cryptographic hash functions, zero knowledge proofs, digital signatures and commitment schemes and bitcoin basics. Afterwards we dive into more detail in the main talk about zerocoin.
