This Six-week Introductory Training (SIT) in Mindfulness course is designed for newcomers to mindfulness or those who would like a refresher in its basic principles and techniques. Participants will learn how to develop a focused and embodied attention, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a greater sense of ease and well being. A variety of mindfulness meditation practices and simple ways to integrate mindfulness into daily activities at home, at work, and in relationships will be covered.


• Training in meditation, developing awareness of breath, body, feelings and thoughts

• Managing stress and learning how to shift from reaction to response

• Recognizing and letting go of unhelpful habitual thoughts and mind states

• Exploring, understanding and working with a range of emotional experience


• Week 1 – An Introduction and Overview of Mindfulness and Breath

• Week 2 – Mindfulness of the Body

• Week 3 – Feeling Tones

• Week 4 – Mindfulness of Emotions

• Week 5 – Mindfulness of Thought / Mental Processes

• Week 6 – Cultivating Kindness / Taking the Practice Home


Participants who complete the course, meaning they attend five or more sessions, will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship to attend their first silent meditation retreat thanks to the Hemera Foundation. (https://hemera.org/)


This six-week course is developed and supported by the Mindfulness Training Institute, (http://mindfulnesstraininginstitute.com) led by teachers Mark Coleman and Martin Alyward.

Nate Mladenovic is currently enrolled in a year-long “Teacher-In-Training” program with the Mindfulness Training Institute, accredited as a teacher training program by the International Mindfulness Teachers Association. (https://www.imta.org/)
