    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laid back country style accommodation. One of the nicest things about visiting the Boland is how unhurried it feels... yet you don't have to travel far to get there. A mere hour's drive from Cape Town and you are in Worcester, the heart of the Boland and home to The River House, which offers self-catering accommodation, conference and function facilities. Perched on the banks of the Breede River, which meanders through the Boland, The River House is a sanctuary for tired souls. Blending old farm house accents with a refined southern African colour palette, its spacious, high-ceilinged lounge area offers a welcome respite after a day canoeing on the Breede. If lounging in the pool is more your thing, the one at The River House is the perfect place to cool off.

The house is perfectly situated for canoeing, fishing, bird-watching, golfing and wine tours.

I look forward to you joining us. Love and blessings. Iain

I also get a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer. This weekend away will be suitable for most levels of fitness. The time out in, offers time out to be able to slow down a little to enjoy the views and connect with like-minded people.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Six comfortably furnished en-suite rooms.  All of the six en suite double rooms open onto a vine-covered central courtyard, with the scent of fynbos and the sound of birds reaching every room. There is nothing better than walking out of your room straight into dappled sunlight and fresh air.

Sliding doors, running the length of the lounge, bring the outdoors in at The River House. Veranda and lounge merge seamlessly into the perfect spot to enjoy your morning cuppa as you watch the Breede slide by against the backdrop of the Boland's majestic mountains.

In the evenings, there is no better spot to relax and enjoy a braai, washed down with one of the region's many fine wines.

Jason’s Hill Private Cellar is tucked away in the heart of the Boland at the foot of the Slanghoek Mountains.

With its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate the very best of grapes are produced for making award-winning wines. It is in this ideal setting that Ivy Du Toit, one of South Africa’s pioneer woman winemaker’s, and her family are keeping alive the tradition of vine growing and wine making that was started by their ancestors in 1844.

Ivy’s interest in winemaking became clear at a young age when she started spending her time curiously investigating the activities at a nearby cellar.  It was, however, only after harvest seasons in America, France, and Italy that she decided to try her own hand at winemaking.

In an old garage on the farm, with grapes from dad, Sakkie’s, produce and barrels bought with her savings money, Ivy made her maiden Shiraz in 2001.  Everything from the picking, destemming and bottling was done by hand.

It was not long before Ivy reapt the success of her hard work and she was named Diner’s Club Young Winemaker of the Year 2003 and Landbou Weekblad Woman Winemaker of the Year 2004. Today Ivy is living her dream of producing multi-award winning wines and sharing it with visitors from across the globe, making every visit to Jason’s Hill a memorable experience.

About the picturesque Slanghoek Valley. There are many reasons to visit this beautiful valley on the Breedekloof Wine Route. Less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town you’ll find some of the most spectacular scenery in the country in this valley, not to mention the friendliest people, great quality award-winning wines and an abundance of activities. Outdoor enthusiasts to the area are spoilt for choice as the valley offers an abundance of activities for adventurers - 4x4 routes, canoeing on the Breede River, hiking trails, trout fishing – as well as range of quaint guest houses and hospitable restaurants in the vicinity. Irrespective of the weather, snow-capped mountains or warm sunshine days, any time is ideal to visit the Slanghoek Valley
