Soulful Palmiet River Trail & Swimming - Kogelberg Nature Reserve

[25 going so far] - Suitable Soulful beginner walk or ideal for those new to the group in joining. Route on offer - Route on offer - Palmiet River Trail Kleinmond & some awesome swimming stops on route - Kogelberg Nature Reserve Kleinmond - Most levels of fitness – [25 Going so far - Booking Essential] – Sunday – 4th December 2016 @ 8.30am - [10.95km] - Finished time of walk @ approx 3.30pm ==> TRAIL MAP ROUTE – http://www.mapometer.com/walking/route_4191135.html

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW START TIME for SUMMER OF 8.30AM

@ -- This is a reminder and very important when joining any of the hikes on offer, don’t forget your water, this should be at least 2 litres and more if it is a hot day. What to wear on the hike. Comfortable hiking clothes (trousers / shorts). In winter long pants are preferable due to the change of temperatures. Jersey or fleecy top. As the weather often heats up during the day, it is good to wear clothes that you can layer on or off. Pack extra, thinner tops as gusty wind can cause the temperature to change quite dramatically. In summer a peak cap for the sun, in a winter beanie or buff and gloves just in case and very important a rain coat no matter the weather conditions, as this also acts as a wind breaker. Remember a warm hiker is a happy hiker ;-) --- being cold or wet on route affects you and the group adversely.

Awakening Intuition Nature Walk Experience / Events - Promoting a sense of community & connectedness with like-minded soulful people – From – http://www.intuitionwalks.com /&/ http://www.awakening-intuition.com

=== > This is a great first time out walk and suitable for BEGINNERS or for those joining the group for the first time.

[*This is a great first time out walk and suitable for BEGINNERS or for those joining the group for the first time. This walk will be suitable for most levels of fitness ;-), but some minimum fitness is required due to the distance covered on the trail. The pace for the walk will not be hurried. If you are not sure of your fitness or have not been before, please call, however extra time is allocated to the breaks*]

For this walk we will be doing the Palmiet River Trail, with some awesome swimming spots along the route, so don’t forget your costume. This Easy out-and-back trail starts at the reserve's office building and then heads out on the trail alongside the Palmiet River. The trail follows the river where swimming is possible in some of the first few pools. The incredible scenery and floral wonders make this walk very worthwhile. Our lunch break, will be at a spot called the Beach, with its white sand the perfect spot for a lunch time swim. Kogelberg Nature Reserve is often considered the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, because of the exceptional quality of its fynbos. The reserve lies within the southern stretch of the rugged Hottentots Holland mountain range, and has remained isolated and remarkably unspoilt. Its high mountain peaks, steep kloofs, valleys and several tributaries of the pristine Palmiet River create a sense of remote wilderness. The reserve comprises a core area of[masked] ha and several smaller fragments. The trail is certainly one of my favourites, from past experience. I am definitely looking forward to this one again. Extra time has been allocated to enjoy some of the interesting rock features and time to swim and relax. Estimated time of walk end 5pm

Don’t forget to bring along your costume for a swim at the breaks along the route and even if you don’t swim bring a towel along to relax on the river bank sand while you have your tea or lunch break.

This is a video about the reserve and shows some of the beautiful scenery for those that have not been there before - http://tinyurl.com/mlwmn6s

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW CANCELLATION POLICY.

Due to the large numbers of no shows, especially on the day of the walk or the night before. Should in future any one cancel less than 24 hours before a walk, then on joining the next walk 50% of the walk fee will be added on to the next walk amount charged. This is especially where people booked one or two friends and they don’t show or cancel, then the person booking will be liable for the extra amount on the next walk per person. The only conditions that affect this if you cancel, if there is a forecast of rain on the day of the walk or if you emailed or send a sms that you are sick and the reason.

===================================>

Please note that when booking. If you are not sure that you can commit to the walk on the day, then pls mark yourself as not going.

My 3 x listing combined are over 2500 people and events are popular and tend to fill up quickly. The reason that I am structuring it this way is that people who do want to join get turned away because the event is full and that is most unfair for them, when booked people do not arrive. It is impossible for me to follow up each person individually and the responsibility of marking yourself appropriately lies with each member. If you do change your mind please update your status or on the day send me a whatapp or a sms only.

Please do read the instructions in full as it contains all the relevant instructions for the hike, for example, meeting time, what to bring, fitness, and starting point. For future in my group those who have not let me know prior to the walk starting, will be removed from the walk listing.

==> WHAT TO BRING ALONG & SAFETY GUIDELINES

*These are requirements are for all walks if you wish to join, as your safety affects the whole group*

@ -- Most important - proper footwear. This being comfortable walking shoes (hiking boots for ankle support) or a good pair of running shoes. Please no crocs or sandals and do not come on a walk without any shoes or bare feet. You need to have a decent grip on the trail, as your safety affects the whole group. Also bring along a black bag to sit on in winter to keep your pants dry, if the grass or rocks are wet.

@ -- Bring along something to eat for the tea break and lunch, trail snacks / fresh fruit, juice or flask for tea / coffee or cup a soup in winter. Sunblock very important and don’t forget your water, this should be at least 2 litres and more if it is a hot day. En route you should be drinking at least 1 full cup every 60min.

@ -- What to wear on the hike. Comfortable hiking clothes (trousers / shorts). In winter long pants are preferable due to the change of temperatures. Jersey or fleecy top. As the weather often heats up during the day, it is good to wear clothes that you can layer on or off. Pack extra thinner tops as gusty wind can cause the temperature to change quite dramatically. Remember a Warm hiker is a happy hiker ;-). In summer a peak cap for the sun, in a winter beanie or buff and gloves just in case and very important a rain coat no matter the weather conditions, as this also acts as a wind breaker.

@ -- A backpack (or daypack) to carry your supplies. A backpack with a hip belt is ideal; it allows the strong bones of your pelvis to support the pack's weight, easing the load on your shoulders.

@ -- As this is a group walk, stay with the group and for the entire duration of the hike. We depart and arrived as a group, this is non-negotiable regarding anyone leaving early.

***Please note that no dogs are allowed on any of the walks that are on offer.”
