"Toy" Drive for tonight if interested

Greetings all,

I apologize for this last minute request, but it honestly just occurred to me to check in with you.  Please don't feel pressured by this - only if it happens to work for those of you attending the meeting tonight...

I am sponsoring a 15 year old girl by providing presents for her this holiday season.  While I think these will be Christmas gifts, the reason I use the term "holiday" instead of Christmas is that I am not certain about the religious or cultural background of this girl, and her adult caregivers will be able to give them to her on the day that makes the most sense for her.  I have to have all gifts delivered by Monday, 12/10.

These will be the only gifts she receives, so I am asking others who are able, to help me make it a really special season for her.  She was removed from her parents for medical neglect when the parent refused to manage her diabetes.  Her mother abandoned her and her father could not stop drinking, showing up to supervised visitations drunk.  She is now in foster care and awaiting adoption which is always less likely for teens.  She loves music and has formed her own band with another girl at her school.

If you happen to have like-new gifts from a child who no longer uses them, or even want to chip in to provide a new gift (gift cards are the greatest!) for Savannah, please feel free to bring it along tonight - unwrapped.  I'm hoping to find someone who might be updating their ipod and will donate their old one.  Anything helps.

Again - NO pressure!

Looking forward to seeing you tonight,

Katy
