IoT + high-speed network

San Leandro is installing a high-speed fiber optic Internet loop that might facilitate a lot of interesting experiments. What might be fun, practical, affordable, and/or interesting? Who's doing what in this area?

Join us on Wednesday, August 8, from 6-8pm
at the San Leandro Main Library,
Conference Room C (upstairs).

Ken talked about Nanode and building IoT like Lego pieces, open source and community. Showed several Arduino boards. Audience of 10, most were new to IoT. Chris shared good resources (including Adafruit.com as a good reference site).

Will there be a projector available, or a large screen monitor?

This seems to be like a great Meetup group, however the location makes it difficult to attend. Are you planning to move it towards the South bay area / Peninsula (Palo Alto to Santa Clara area)

I should be able to do a short presentation on low cost open source hardware for connecting devices to the Internet of Things.

I can also speak about a couple of cool projects that are happening on the IoT - including the Air Quality Egg, a crowd sourced open data, personal air quality monitor, and a public space art project - a web connected, interactive sound sculpture current being installed in London.
