The Humanist Society of Iowa, in conjunction with the UUHumanists, would like to invite you all to join us on Sunday September 2nd as we continue our series of engaging discussions centered on the book The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt, an involved text that explores the dynamic behind why people are so divided by politics and religion.
With this session, the discussion will run from 11 AM until Noon. And will still take place in room 103.
The reading assignment for this session is Chapter 5. Don't be discouraged from attending if you haven't finished the reading, as there is still room for you to participate. You will undoubtedly learn a lot about how people become so rigid in their thinking that no amount of rational inquiry will change their perspectives.
The book itself is available, both new and used, from Amazon, starting under $5. If you need help acquiring a copy of the book free of shipping, Humanist Society President Gwen Harvey can help with that. Please contact her at this email - [masked]
If you like, you can read more about the book here - http://righteousmind.com/
