What we're about

**What is it?**
African dance is a high spirited dance in which all your body is in motion and it is danced at the rhythm of live percussion. Traditionally, it is danced by women and men during celebrations, ceremonies and gatherings making any occasion perfect for dancing. The dances being taught are from the West of Africa (Senegal, The Gambia...)

**Who is it for?**
This type of dance is for everyone and anyone who wishes to learn or improve African dance, all level are welcome. It is a wonderful way to let go and release any accumulated energy.

**What are the classes about?**
The classes start with a warm-up, continue with teaching steps that built up to a choreography and finish with a stretching and cooldown. During the classes, you will dance with live percussion and learn different traditional dance steps and rhythms. We will also sing traditional songs from West Africa.

Wear comfortable clothing in which you can move and work out a sweat. It is usually danced bare feet.

**About myself**
I started dancing African dance in 2005 in Barcelona. I went to Senegal for the first time in 2007 and I still go there to perfect my technique. I have also lived in Senegal for a year and danced with "La Foret Sacree" of Ziguinchor. I have lived in The Netherlands where I have performed with "Guzanghida" and "Nusodia", and in Barcelona with "Afroalamuta". I have taught West African dance in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Dublin.

I love expressing myself through dance and find it a very energetic way of lifting up my spirits and being able to connect with myself and others.
