What we're about
Welcome to Ireland Explorers!
Ireland Explorers, taking you away on day trips, walking through the countryside, cycling the many cycling routes of Ireland, and weekends away across Ireland.
Ireland Explorers ---- Hiking, Walking, Socialising, Exploring
Ireland Explorers is based in Cork and has membership from Cork and further afield. Many explorers live locally or are here for work/study and want to get out of town for outdoor exploring with new people and new friends.
Our walks are usually 10-15km in length. A moderate level of fitness is required for the walks. The terrain varies and there is information about what clothes and footwear will be needed for each designated walk on the information page of that walk on the meetups.
You must be reasonably fit and active. Prepare yourself adequately with the proper kit for all hikes. Proper sturdy walking boots, as well as warm comfortable clothing is recommended. Bring a waterproof jacket and trousers. No jeans!
All our weekends are based around walking, hiking, cycling with other activity options also available, as well as going out for dinners together on the Saturday night. We leave Cork after work on the Friday and return on the Sunday evening. We will book into hostels, thus keeping the cost down for everyone, however, feel free to book other accommodation if you wish. In general, we will carpool to our destination and don't forget to give a donation to the carpool driver.
All the activities are a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Many people come on their own and we make sure everyone is welcome, others like to bring a friend as their guest. After the day's activity, we will have the chance to go for a meal together at the end.
There's so much to see and do around Ireland. Come along and discover The Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland's Ancient East, Ireland's Hidden Heartlands, The North East & Midlands, Northern Ireland. It's out there to be discovered. Come along and have fun!
