I have started this site because as a newbie to the Isle of Wight, I've found it difficult to get to meet new people and make friends. I've searched unsuccessfully for a social group on the island so I'm taking the plunge myself in the hope of bringing together a friendly, diverse, informal collection of people who are also looking to revamp their social life.
I've listed lots of activities that we could be about, at this point in time it's just about seeing who is interested and what you would like to do, so any suggestions for other events and interests are happily received.
Everyone is welcome, no matter if you are new to the island or are already established here. I would like the group to focus on friendships rather than dating, so couples and friends are equally invited.
The age range I will only restrict to ' young at heart' so interpret that as you will
I look forward to hearing from future hobnobbers and exploring this lovely island in good company!
Fellow hobnobber (Kathy Aka Mrs. Puddleduck) has asked me to advertise this event.
There is a weekly quiz on a Sunday at 'The hideaway' in Shanklin. It cost £2 per person to enter. Half of the money raised will go to charity...the other half goes to the winning team as a cash prize!
Kathy normally has a meal there at 6.30pm prior to the quiz...if anyone wishes to have a meal before the quiz.
It's a brand new year - so why not make it a digital one? I'm passionate about bringing people together - so why not get involved.
Join me at Artisan in Ryde on the Isle of Wight for an opportunity to learn more about Wight Digital and events for the digital curious on the Island.
It would be a fantastic to meet people who would be interested in working together on new ways to reach more people through events and outreach activities. Whether your background is in digital marketing, web design or engineering, your input would be welcome.
• What we'll do
Island Dance Wizards hold these classes every Monday. I have started going recenty with a couple of other Hobnobs. It's great fun, good exercise, and you get to dance with all the potential partners in the room. Dance styles covered are Modern Jive and Blues. No experience is needed so if you have two left feet, come along for a few weeks and you may grow a right one! To be helpful to the organisers ideally we need equal guys and girls so guys please come along and keep me company. Cost is £7 and includes tea/coffee if you want it. The address is Methodist Hall, York St, Sandown, PO36 8ET. There is a free car park next door ( it's also adjacent the the Conservative club)
