“Recognizing the talents of persons on the autism spectrum, rather than focusing on their weaknesses, is essential to creating a society that is truly inclusive.”

 —UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Founded in 2013 by Mark and Margaret Fairbanks—parents of a 17 year old son on the autism spectrum—Islands of Brilliance targets skill-based learning and critical social skill development, helping young adults on the spectrum develop core skills that will help them succeed as adults, including finding and maintaining employment. This informational group is meant to connect parents with children ages 8 - 20 on the spectrum who are interested in the program and are searching for vocational pathways for their children. Ongoing dialog and conversations about moving from autism awareness to autism acceptance will be at the core of this group.
