You haven't heard from me because I've been having some physical problems that have really deterred me in many ways. It was a combination of a lack of vitamin D and a mistake in my thyroid medicine. But I am happy to say I'm on the mend. I've decided to transition this group from meeting to exercise to being a support group for women who want to loss weight. I've done a tremendous amount of research on health, particularly woman's weight loss issues and over and over again research tells us that social support is foundational to making life style changes. Our meetings will be about positive psychology, self improvement, emotional support, accountability and having fun. The first meeting I will be sharing what I've learned from a recent positive psychology course I just finished. The class focused on the process of change based on Prochaska's book "Changing For Good". We will also set up future topics and activities for the next few months.
In between support meetings we will pick activities to do together that are fun and affirming. I'm open to having our own cooking classes to just getting out and going to the movies! You make the suggestions, we can dance, bowl or just walk together. I'm also going to start T-TAPPing again so you're welcome to jump in on that too!
