World Usability Day is a single day of events occurring around the world that brings together communities for our common objective: to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use. We are excited to bring the celebration to Cincinnati, by IxDA Cincinnati, Ladies that UX and UX Dayton partnering together.

At the center of our event will be a fast-paced experiential Design Thinking workshop, where attendees will work shoulder to shoulder with peers to research, ideate, and design a software application that will delight and inspire your users.

This Design Thinking workshop has been facilitated by our speaker Jeff Hendrickson in four countries to more than 700 people, from major corporations such as Air Canada, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Fidelity Investments, along with Queensway Carleton Hospital, York Regional Police, and The Michigan State Police to name just a few.

Attendees will learn:
- Why empathy is a crucial factor in every successful design project
- How to conduct productive interviews
- The importance of “fail early and fail fast”
- What “The Sweet Spot” is
- How to present your ideas for honest and open feedback

No matter your industry or your end product, this methodology has produced effective teams, highly adopted products, and millions of dollars of cost savings to companies large and small.

Jeff Hendrickson is currently a UX Lead at Kroger and a life-long questioner of everything static and status quo. Jeff began his professional career in the fashion industry in NYC. Upon switching to the tech industry and building Knowledge Management systems for the Pentagon and The Defense Intelligence Agency, he quickly began to understand that his role in life is to break down antiquated, complex systems and teach others how to do the same. He has consulted to companies such as General Motors, American Express, FedEx, Orion Health, The Chicago Board of Trade, and many others across a wide variety of industries. Jeff developed this workshop more than three years ago with a BI company in NYC and is now spreading his ideas to Cincinnati.

In his spare time, he writes novels, makes craft cocktail bitters, writes a style blog for dudes, creates online UX courses, and tries his best to stay out of trouble. (Needless to say, he hasn’t written very many novels.)

Paycor provides small and medium-sized companies with intuitive, cloud-based onboarding, HR, payroll and timekeeping software with the goal of enabling businesses to be more efficient and to make smarter decisions about their people and processes.

IxDA Cincinnati is a local chapter of the Interaction Design Association. It is for individuals interested in sharing ideas in interaction design, user experience and digital design, to share their knowledge and new techniques with the Cincinnati community.

Ladies that UX Cincinnati is an organization focused on creating a welcoming, transparent community of women that are interested and passionate in making the world a better place for users through UX!

UX Dayton Meetup is for anyone interested in improving technology for the people who use it. It's not just about the web. UX Dayton is industry and technology neutral. If a human being interacts with the thing you make at any point in the end-to-end journey, then UX Dayton wants to hear about it.
