Service Design: Transforming Public Services through Design-Driven Processes

  • Mar 14, 2012 · 6:00 PM

"Blanke ark" - Design for Democracy

Jan Walter Parr, Industrial Designer from KADABRA, will talk about the design process that led to the new election equipment  "Blanke Ark". What role has a design office as a supplier of design into the public sector? The focus of the presentation will be to show, how KADABRA iteratively involved users in the different phases during the  process of the project.

Service Design in the Health Sector

Ingvild Sundby has worked with service design in several different industries. At this meetup she will share her experiences from the health sector; processes, tools, challenges and why service design eats LEAN for breakfast.

Talks will be held in English.

Join us for beers at Oslo Mekaniske after the session to continue the conversation!

I don't have any suggestions of forums - I guess that's why I'd get an inside co-author, to help navigate the system to best effect (pushing the project and methods used).

I don't think Helsebiblioteket has a forum, at least not last time I looked. Check out Mendeley http://www.mendeley.com/ recommended to me by a researcher/doctor client. Lot's of scientists, doctors, researcher types there and all round brainy people it seems. Oh and designers too although I'm not entirely sure what a designer would do there but I'm about to find out. Looks like Facebook for researchers and boffins, a place where you can can share your stuff but not be embarrassed about it.

Very thorough presentations from both contributors. All major aspects of SD was touched on. A lot of the questions seemed to revolve around deliverables - perhaps SD deliverables deserve more focus in the communication of "what SD is" as it is something concrete in an otherwise somewhat fuzzy field.

That's a good point. I don't know which medical forums would be most relevant though - any suggestions?

Thanks for two nice presentations! I hava a comment for Ingvild Sundby: did you consider publishing your research to the medical community? Medicine is rather research-driven, so that could be a nice way to communicate on their channels, possibly making them aware of the user research approach and elevate the status of such an approach in the medical community. To ease the process, I would ask the former administrator or other insider to co-author.
